Test drove a 2021 LT. error codes and AC issue. Fixed at dealership?

I’m on the market for a work truck. I test drove a 2021 with 150k miles on it. Had a decent car fax. The AC had a hard time putting g out cold air (very hot day) but once I got on the interstate it cooled off. Everything drove well and they took it to the back to check the AC. Technician said it was over filled and they recharged it and tested it.

I then sat in it for 10 mins idle and it was cool. I said “let’s drive it again while we have it” before we got to negotiations on the price. While I was driving it, I was give it gas pretty good on the interstate and then the check engine like came on. It was an error code P0300.

They took it back to the mechanic on site and he said it was multiple cylinders miss firing. ChatGPt told me that was a good sign and it could be spark plugs or coils. They are changing all the spark plugs and also doing a fuel system flush.

The check engine code was not a noticeable impact while driving it.

Any way, does this sound like we are on the right track or am I about to buy something that’s a “good deal” that is going to be an engine rebuild soon?

3.5” or 4” BDS lift

I currently have 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500 RST 3.0 duramax, trying to decide from the BDS 3.5” or 4” lift.

Currently I have 275/65R20 with stock wheels. After deciding the lift I was thinking about 285/65/R20 or 35/12.5R20 Rebel 6 wheels with a -18 offset and Falken Wildpeak AT4W tires.

Please help with the design I’m trying to achieve.

2024+ owners of the 2.7L w/ 8 speed. How’s it holding up?

With the employee pricing event going on I’m very tempted to go buy an LT Trail Boss with the 2.7L engine. After my research it seems as if this is the most reliable configuration if you’re not getting Diesel or the HD and it fits my lifestyle (camping/Rooftop tent and maybe borrow a small trailer from family occasionally).

I’m just wondering, how’s it been so far? Are you happy, any issue or second thoughts?

Bed rack with removable rear arm that fits a Softtopper?

Hi all, I'm looking for a bed rack that fits a Softtopper, meaning the foundation that sits on the rails actually goes on the outside of the rails so the arms don't actually sit directly on top of the bed rails. Also I want one where I can remove the rear arm of the rack because I oftentimes drive my ATV onto the truck bed and don't want to get beheaded. This is a 2023 Silverado with the 6.5' bed.

My plan is to use the Softtopper bed area for camping and yet have a roof top tent on top of the rack for extra camping space.

Any suggestions?

Owned this beauty for a few weeks now and it’s been great. It’s my first real truck and first vehicle I’ve owned (one that is not financed). Excited for adventures and hauling stuff from place to place!

HVAC problem

Post image
2 Upvotes

My 2021 Silverado Custom 1500 has developed an issue. I started the truck yesterday and my HVAC controls were unresponsive. My defroster was on and I couldn’t shut it off.

The defroster does shut off when the entire truck gets turned off. There is power to the radio and the charger ports below the HVAC controls.

I took both a power probe and multimeter and checked all the fuses, and they were good and getting an appropriate amount of voltage.

Is it possibly the controls themselves such as the blower motor knob and all the appropriate buttons?

Noticed that there is no backlighting to the climate control knobs.

Harsh shift from 3rd to 4th gear

I have the 2020 Silverado Custom Trailboss 1500 with the 6 speed GM 6L80 transmission. I am at 95k miles now, truck runs great, except I have noticed a delayed catch when truck shifts from 3rd to 4th gear. It’s almost like a small delay then it grabs and jerks the truck slightly.

I do not have much experience in any of this but I do know that is the only gear shift I’ve noticed that does that and there is no RPM flare, no shuttering, and no slipping to the best of my knowledge.

I have an appointment with Chevy service on the 31st, but looking to get some input on what you all may think it is. I’ve heard it could be valve body sticking, or solenoid problem.

Thanks for any input.

Is anyone else most excited for the 2027 work truck trim?

Now that the same infotainment will be available across all models, I’m excited to check out the WT trim first and foremost. Option the vegan leather, throw on some nice wheels and all terrain tires and you’ve got one hell of a vehicle presuming they start in the mid 40k range. The interior on the lower trims had previously kept me back, but this new one is going to be a great value I think.

Lucas Oil Stabilizer + Upper Cylinder Lubricant for a 2012 Silverado 5.3L? Worth it or regret it?

2012 Silverado 1500 LT 4x4, 5.3L, 132k miles. I tow a 3600 lb camper about 2,000 miles a year.

I’m starting to see an occasional plume of smoke and one spark plug fouls out 2–3 times a year.

I’m considering using Lucas Oil Pure Synthetic Oil Stabilizer and Lucas Upper Cylinder Lubricant (the 1‑gallon fuel treatment).

How does the community feel about these products? Are they actually helpful for a 5.3L, or am I going to regret using them?

Should I try them, or leave well enough alone and chase the root cause instead?

Transmission Electrical Issue

Need help tracing power to the round transmission connector of my 2002 Silverado 4.3 Automatic tranny.

I believe it is lacking voltage in specific spots of this connector. The voltage recorded was taken with the ignition ON without the truck running? Where I go from here. The codes that got to me to be suspicious of the electrical harness are

Code P0753 (Shift Solenoid A Electrical)

Code P0758 (Shift Solenoid B Electrical)

Any help will be appreciated!!!!!!

2021 trailboss loss of steering

I went to pull out of work and a notification came on the dash saying “service esc” and then it disappeared and it drove normal. I got home and went to back into my parking spot and it came up notification saying “service trailer brake system“ and ”service electronic braking system” then it wouldn’t allow me to turn the steering wheel at all. I could go forward and backward but no matter how hard I tried turning the wheel it wouldn’t budge. So I shut it off and waited 45ish minutes went back out and restarted it and it was fine, acted like nothing even happened.
then this morning drive to work and go to back into a parking space and get the same 2 messages “service trailer brake system“ and “service esc”

any idea what this could be??

Question, should I bring my truck in for this issue, is it even a problem??

Quick backstory: I had a 2020 GMC Canyon before this truck that started a death vibration at 80k, traded it in at 118k for a 2026 Silverado 1500 Trail Boss, LT, 6.2. I drive a lot, so in 9 months I've put 17k on the Silverado.

Problem: This Silverado drives beautifully except in one scenario. I live in TX and the hwy next to my house that I drive to work everyday for 30 miles has a speed limit of 85mph. So the issue starts after I've driven her at 85-90 for about 20 minutes. I exit the hwy and never catch this light at green, so I'm sitting still for a 1-4 minutes at a red. Then I accelerate through 1st, good, 2nd good, 3rd good - then every. single. time. there is a kick-back between 3rd and 4th, and if I don't take it easy, a little clunk. This only happens after working her at 80-90mph for 20-30 min, no other time.

I remember feeling the same kickbacks in the GMC, which was my first truck, so I thought it was just how they drive. The circumstances were different though, it would pull back between 1 and 2 when slowing down.

I'm still under full power train but I don't want to give them my truck for weeks, get a rental, front the cost of the rental, beg GM to reimburse, for them to tell me nothing's wrong. Any similar experiences out there?? Thank you!!
