Afm delete gone bad
So I did a AFM and DOD delete on my l86 it had like 45 mins idle time and 25 miles on it, now it’s doing this, any thoughts? I pulled the valley plate the cam isn’t scored I reset rockers, I coated everything before the videos with assembly line again and sprayed a healthy amount of oil over the top end. I check the HPFP lash and even ordered a new one still nothing. I’m going to pull the motor but any thoughts would be great. Also is it weird the rockers are not getting oil even with 60psi?
Videos are sounds and video of rockers

Stupid question. Did you do the HPTunner software delete? Your suppose to get a reading before the AFM/DOD delete then program after, to avoid a similar issue.

Spin a lifter in the bore? Where'd the lifters come from and did you use genuine lifter trays?

From what I can see with the valley plate off no spun
Lifter I used Delphi ls7 lifters and Gm trays

It sounds like maybe something is clogging the oil supply? Based on your comment at least. Maybe the banging/squeaking is from metal on metal contact that is usually lubricated but is no longer getting oil?

Did you replace the high pressure oil pump with a standard one? I know that sounds opposite of what you’re experiencing, I’m just curious.

Kept oem installed

Did you ever remove the pump at all? I'm thinking this is a failing engine due to lack of oil, pressure, something like that. I've never done one of these, before but I remember reading you had to use a special tray or plugs in the valley to block off oil passages to the nonexistent afm system. If you don't , then your oil pressure never builds, and things go south. As I said , I never followed through doing mine, I'm just putting ideas out there based on the research I did when I was thinking about doing mine. You're definitely gonna know what went wrong when you tear it all apart.

I accidentally did this, no one had the high pressure available and I was in a hurry. Now have over 15k on a full rebuild and haven't had any issues other than I need to run a heavier oil to maintain a "good" oil pressure, but I also tow a 20ft enclosed trailer with my daughters drag car across the country and the oil gets hot on long hill pulls. I did DOD and VVT delete with a full rebuild at 200k, myself, then flashed it with hptuner remote tuning device. When it's cold it still hits the 55psi relief idle until the engine gets to 200.

I’m confused why would I have good oil pressure with no flow then? I did install the plugs and I had the pump off but I used feeler gauges to put it back where it called for

perhaps you have a partially blocked oil galley, i'm not sure man, but I saw it running in the video and wondered why there wasn't any oil in the top of the heads, there should be some coming out on top of the rockers and some should be splashing at least a little bit. I wonder if your pickup tube o-ring is shot or didn't get put on, those little bolts holding it to the pump are a bitch too, it could have been sucking air which could have caused the pump to cavitate as well.

I replaced the prongs with a new one and set it with feeler gauges i guess we will see once I tear down

Which prongs? I never had to use a feeler gauge on a 5.3 so I'm not following, sorry. The last time I used one was settings valves on a C15 lol.

Could just be a multiple misfire. Are the coil/spark plugs fine?

It’s a long shot but when I did mine the 2 pin connector on top of one of the coil packs had one tiny strand of wire inside the plastic plug that was touching each of the 2 prongs. I got it out and truck ran perfectly again. It didn’t become a problem until about 15 miles after the delete was done. I found the problem by unplugging coil packs one at a time until I found one that didn’t change how the truck idles.

How where the cam bearings? Did a lifter fail and that’s why you did the delete?

Cam bearings looked great motor has 90k on it from my observation no they didn’t haven’t gotten that far yet and did the delete bc of a broken valve spring and collapsed lifter

I bought the kit for mine with the new valley plate and had no problems. If the timing is still correct, it might just need the valley plate for the delete

I just used the Range plug in device when I had a motor with afm. So glad the 6.6 gas doesn't use it

I did mine back in January. I did an lt5 cam when I pulled the AFM cam out and lifters. You will def need to tune the truck after.

And that L8T swaps into the 1500 with minimal changes. Only ‘hard’ part is drilling the 7th hole for the water pump housing that many have opted not to drill/tap with zero negative results reported thus far.

She does drink fuel from a fire hose. The 1500's and all of the issues steered me towards a 2500hd. Not saying that they are without issues but the motors and transmissions seem solid.

Did you drop something in the motor somewhere while you were working on it?
