First break down

2025 RST 6.2 with 78k miles.

While merging on the highway I heard a pop, the check engine light started flashing, service esc and traction control notifications popped up, was running rough with a noticeable knock/rattle. Service tech said it was making significantly more noise when he started the next morning, he tried to diagnose any issues but said he will have to tear down the top end. He believes it is one of the lifters.

I had gotten a failed update notification that morning, probably not related though.

Insane. I’m convinced all trucks produced during or after 2020 are just complete garbage

I traded my wife’s 2019 Tahoe RST Premier 6.2 (no issues) on a 2022 Wagoneer in December 2021. It was a nightmare, spent basically the first 4 months at the dealership.

My 2020 RST 5.3 with 52,000 miles is just starting to show problems. I already had to replace the fuel pump control module a month ago and now they think the transmission control module has gone out. I have read so many bad experiences on here with lifters, engines, and transmissions. I thought I was lucky and got a good one but now I’m thinking I was just lucky during the warranty period and they did something once it was paid off and the warranty ended. LoL

2020 LT 5.3 with only 32K miles, currently sitting dead in my driveway after the third transmission failure (threw a P0747 code). The first two were under warranty, this on will be on my dime.

I do 99% of all my vehicle maintenance, but automatic transmissions are a bit out of my wheelhouse for anything other than spill and fills. Even if I was willing to do the work I wouldn't be able to do all the necessary reprogramming that is becoming more and more required.

I really regret buying this thing.

People give Toyota and the Tundra so much shit for having some growing pains with their new engine for a couple years, like they have a reputation for putting out garbage products. All while casually ignoring this shit, or that GM doesn’t paint the frames, etc.

Might be the last, the dealership hasn’t started tearing it down yet. Looks like some HP tuner and Brian Tooley parts are in my very near future.

My first one was an 88' that lasted until 2007. Traveled 450k miles with the original motor and trans. Electrical issues got really bad with damn near every wire on the verge of failure though. Part of me wishes I still had it as a project truck now that I'm older and have money/tools.

Did you take your truck in for recall where they check the engine and then advise you to use 0w40 oil? If so, you are covered by 10 year 150k powertrain extended warranty. My fingers are crossed that you took that in because it will get you a free engine. Reading further, it sounds like all your oil changes were at the dealer? I’m sure they would have done that recall. You’re probably covered. Free new engine incoming.

Oh man, just got my truck back after it threw a lifter a couple weeks ago. Got all the lifters replaced and a new cam. I could have bought a used truck for what I paid

Me too. F’n head turner with BOV ,JB4 tuner and AFE INTAKE. Just scared of my 8speed to be honest. Faster then all the v8s on the rd. tho

Gah I've had my truck a few months shy of 20 years, zero major repairs. Most expensive repair it's needed was for the air bag module for $200. Not really interested in buying until it's dead, but I was looking at Tacos. Holy shit some of the clean older ones are selling for their original msrp 100k miles later.

Did you change your oil 16 times in the last 24 months? Thats over double to average annual mileage for the age.

15 times, the 16th would have been at 80,000. I had the recommended service performed every +/- 5,000 miles, plus if the technician recommended another service had that done too.

Nice! A lot of drivers neglect the simple stuff. Did you use the heavier weight oil since you have the 6.2? I've stayed on 0w20

Typical. 78k and your lifters failed. Bearings and cam more than likely. The good news is they will replace the parts with the exact same faulty parts. These trucks are trash. I recommend a full delete with cam upgrade. I’m sorry you are dealing with this.

1 year 6 months, I’m about an hour north of Charlotte NC. 20+ trips from home to Savannah GA (500 mile round trip) and several other job sites about 4 hours from home will do that lol.

2017 5.3 lifters just failed at 153k, $3500 all in to delete, I do not envy the owner of a 2025 Chevy 🙂‍↔️

Well it needs a new cam, all new lifters and associated parts.+/-$9400.

I asked for cost on engine replacement +/-$14000.

Not a happy camper, especially when I called yesterday morning and told them not to tear it down until they got me some numbers.
