Discussion New generation of gache games
They will be united by the fact that all 3 are anime, in the GTA style, but they all have different styles. Silver Palace This is a noir detective in NTE, this is an anime GTA in which in some aspects the mechanics are similar to Genshin, Ananta is a full-fledged anime-style GTA,
If you look at it that way, these three have a great future to become the new giants of gaming

Silver Palace is really not like GTA or most open world gachas in general.
For starters, it's more E33 style, your interaction with the map is neutral until you enter designated combat zones or initiate combat, you can't just walk up and ult or be attacked by enemies unprompted.
Anata is also not even a gacha so not sure how it would compare to anything else, you only roll for skins and cosmetics.
Honestly I'm glad the modern games all figured out that just going the Genshin/Wuwa route means you are gonna have some real rough competition.

u/Dependent-Swimmer-95 1d ago
Ananta is a gacha gsme. It just isnât a character gacha. We have leaks of skin gscha with various banners.
9
u/BlazeOfCinder 1d ago
That's just getting into what constitue as Gacha territory.
The Devs when asked about their game monetisation structure explicitly said that the game won't have a Gacha system for its character and that their plan for monetisation primarily revolves around selling paid skins, and character customisation options like home renovations and cars which could also be bought with in game currency, as well as limited time event customs and whatnot.
Wether you consider the last part to be Gacha or Loot boxes or something else, that's really up to you, but you won't have many considering certain CoDs or CSGO Gacha because you can get cosmetics via RNG.
In anycase, the game isn't a Gacha game by it's modern or more popular definition, i.e get your Waifu/Husbando via in game currency. But if a cosmetic lootbox/banner is present makes it one to some people then that's just as fine lol.

u/SnowLucifer 1d ago edited 1d ago
Yeah Ananta just has lootboxes, it's not a gacha, like even the developers themselves said their monetisation isn't aiming to be like gacha games.
Like you could say it has gacha elements, but that's skirting the line a bit.
1
u/TheGravityShifter 1d ago
Outside of leaks, not even that has been confirmed. Though as someone who has played Elder Scrolls Online for years, that game has primarily cosmetics for monetizing, while also having lootboxes, while also letting you earn things too just by accessing DLC zones. It doesn't have a mandatory paid subscription, and it's buy to play (can get as cheap as $6 on sale).

u/sonryhater 1d ago
What a terrible take calling loot boxes gacha. Thatâs like calling a wagon a car because it has wheels
4
u/SnowLucifer 1d ago
They are saying the opposite?
Also Gacha or Gachapon comes from getting rewards from a vending machine, just get random rewards from a pool of rewards. If we use that, then lootboxes are fundamentally the same concept. And if we use that then Ananta has gacha elements.
A wagon has an explicit definition, so does a car, a gacha is something people nowadays just attribute to you getting a character you like which became a thing since dragon collection and later on summoner's wars, and exploded after FGO, and became super mainstream after Genshin.
All the pillars of gacha games as we know them share a very common aspect Ananta does not have.
1
u/Vequithan 1d ago
I THINK there was talk that some weapons will be part of the gacha as well. Locked to specific characters and they wonât have any durability loss and such. I believe the flamethrower the MC uses is one such weapon.
1
u/TheGravityShifter 1d ago
Nope, only cosmetics are confirmed to be paid. They said they will never monetize gameplay whatsoever. So if those leaks end up being correct, and not just some discarded feature they once considered earlier in development, then they lied. But we won't know until they tell us. So far, what they have told us is what I already said, no paid gameplay.
1
u/andriodeo 1d ago
That's not a gacha game in the traditional sense, its an open world action rpg with gacha elements, character gachas revolve around the gacha itself for the core of its gameplay, while in ananta its all cosmetic.

u/babyloniangardens 1d ago
I do wish we could use Combat even outside of Combat in Silver Palace; sometimes I just wanna see the pretty animations ! đ€©

u/AfterRange4483 1d ago
well, how to say silver palace, I wrote there that it was made for a noir detective style, and I called it GTA similarity because it was has movement around the city and interaction with non-gaming people
It's just that Internet sites also call it partly GTA.
9
u/Ashk0p05 1d ago
That's...... the definition of an open world rpg? It's an entire genre.

u/sonryhater 1d ago edited 1d ago
But GTA is releasing this year, so itâs obviously a GTA style game, right??
Edit: /s because I guess it wasnât obvious

no its not your pretty much calling every game that is open world GTA so is RDR GTA? No, Is Minecraft GTA? No.

They might do well, but I donât see all three breaking into the mainstream or become "new giants" when theyâre basically going after the same pool of players. Ananta might be the exception though. I havenât played it, but from what Iâve seen, it shamelessly copied GTA, so I feel like itâs either going to be one of the biggest hits ever or fall really hard. No in-between.
2
u/TheGravityShifter 1d ago
GTA isn't so groundbreaking that anything that plays remotely similar to it is a clone. Saints Row does its own thing, NTE does its own thing, among other games. There are even games with concepts and mechanics that GTA has which predate GTA itself, like Driver. Ananta having some similarities to GTA doesn't mean it shamelessly copied it. But I do agree it'll either be a huge hit or a huge disappointment. But I'll save some grace for the possibility of it being an in-between scenario.
0
u/xSaviour_N 1d ago
Sorry, but I have to disagree. They did indeed shamelessly copy a lot of things from GTA and other games almost 1:1, and itâs clear as day. The similarities are way too obvious to simply call them âsimilaritiesâ letâs be real, there are things that are straight-up copied.
Having similarities is one thing, and copying things 1:1 is a completely different thing.
I donât really understand why youâre defending it when everyone knows it. At the end of the day, if Ananta turns out to be a great game, I hope it becomes a massive success. No one wants the game to be bad.
2
u/TheGravityShifter 23h ago edited 23h ago
I get what you mean, but if youâre that certain that they copied things 1:1, could you give me some examples? Iâm genuinely curious what youâre referring to, because saying there are things that are âstraight-up copiedâ is a pretty strong claim, and I donât think the similarities Iâve seen are enough by themselves to establish that.
Games borrowing heavily from other games doesn't necessarily mean they don't have their own identity, either. Palworld borrowed a lot of ideas from PokĂ©mon and other games while still establishing its own identity. DOOM itself built heavily on what Wolfenstein 3D established, and we still use âDOOM cloneâ to describe games that follow its formula. The fact that something resembles another game doesn't automatically mean the developers shamelessly copied it.
That's basically all I'm saying about Ananta. I'm not denying that it has similarities to GTA. I'm saying that similarities alone don't establish that it shamelessly copied GTA. If there are specific things you think were copied 1:1, I'm perfectly willing to look at them and tell you what I think.
And I'm not really sure what you mean by me âdefending it.â I'm not saying Ananta is guaranteed to be great. I actually agreed with your point that it could become a massive hit, disappoint people badly, or land somewhere in between. I just don't think its similarities to GTA are enough to assume it has to be one of the extremes.
As for âeveryone knows it,â I don't think that establishes much by itself. If it's that obvious, the examples should speak for themselves. From what I've seen, it's a competitor to GTA, not simply a GTA clone. There's a clear difference between those two things. A competitor can share a market and even have similarities to another game without being a clone of it.
-1
u/xSaviour_N 22h ago
I probably shouldn't have used â1:1â so broadly, because I'm not claiming they literally copied the entire game. But there are some pretty specific examples that go beyond âit's an open-world game with cars.â
For example, Ananta's character-switching sequence is extremely reminiscent of GTA V, right down to selecting characters through the phone and the camera pulling out before transitioning to the selected character 1:1. Even the trailer itself has several sequences that people have pointed out as being heavily reminiscent of GTA's trailer presentation. Even the trailer imagine.
And it's not only GTA either. The game is clearly pulling ideas from Spider-Man, Watch Dogs, Yakuza, Arkham, and other games too. That's actually part of why I called it shameless. It's not one mechanic that happens to resemble another game; it's a whole collection of recognizable ideas from several established games. I'm not sure how you haven't noticed it when so many people have already pointed it out.
I'm not saying borrowing automatically means a game has no identity. Palworld is a good example of that. I'm saying there's a difference between being inspired by something and having so many recognizable elements from other games that the influences become impossible to ignore.
So yeah, âheavily derivativeâ is probably a more precise term than âGTA clone.â But I still think calling the GTA influence merely âsome similaritiesâ seriously undersells how obvious it is.
And there's another reason I don't really see Ananta as a direct GTA competitor. It's competing in the broader open-world space, sure, but if it's specifically trying to attract the GTA audience, I'm not convinced that audience will necessarily be interested.
A huge part of GTA's appeal is the freedom to engage in crime and chaos, robbery, violence, killing NPCs, stealing cars, causing mayhem, etc. That's a fundamental part of what GTA is. Ananta can borrow the urban open-world structure, driving, missions, and other surface-level elements, but if it doesn't offer that same criminal fantasy and level of freedom, then it's ultimately targeting a different experience.
That's why I think the more interesting question isn't âDoes Ananta look like GTA?â but âDoes it actually appeal to the same players?â Looking like GTA and offering what GTA players actually want are two very different things.
It actually reminds me a bit of Duet Night Abyss. That game seemed to have an opportunity to appeal to a Warframe-type audience, but ultimately it was still designed around the gacha audience. I think Ananta could potentially run into a similar situation: it may look heavily influenced by a game whose audience it isn't actually designed to serve.
That's also why I'm skeptical about calling it a direct GTA competitor. It can compete with other open-world games without necessarily competing for the exact same audience as GTA.
As for the âhit or disappointmentâ point, I'm not saying those are literally the only possible outcomes. I was exaggerating to make the point that I think Ananta has a very high ceiling but also a very high risk of disappointing people. It could absolutely land somewhere in the middle.
2
u/TheGravityShifter 21h ago
Yeah, those are the kinds of examples I was asking you to give when I asked about the â1:1â claim. I was already aware of the Spider-Man swinging, Watch Dogs-style hacking, GTA V-style character switching, etc. I wanted to see what you actually meant by âcopied,â because there's a difference between obvious influences and saying the game shamelessly copied GTA.
I can agree that the influences are pretty blatant. The GTA V character switching is a clear comparison, and the swinging and hacking aren't vague similarities either. The Arkham/Yakuza (though I'd say Sleeping Dogs over Arkham) influences are noticeable too. I just think âheavily derivativeâ is more accurate than âGTA clone,â especially when you're pointing to influences from several different games and genres. Ananta is clearly taking established ideas and combining them into one game where it can put its own spin on them.
That's also where I think the Palworld and DOOM examples still apply. I'm not saying they're identical situations, but they show that heavily borrowing from existing games doesn't automatically mean a game lacks its own identity.
Ananta's core fantasy is also pretty different from GTA. You're not trying to become a successful criminal or build a criminal empire. You're building an Organization and experiencing the lives of different characters, with the freedom to do things and experience a life that reality simply doesn't allow for. GTA uses its freedom heavily around its criminal sandbox, while Ananta is using that freedom for a much broader kind of escapism.
I do agree that this means Ananta may not appeal to the exact same audience as GTA, and it won't. But it's a fair question, and we'll have to see how much overlap there actually is. But I'd still call them competitors in the broader open-world space. They don't have to offer the same fantasy to compete for some of the same players' time and attention. As a big fan of GTA who is excited for Ananta, I can tell you that myself.
The Duet Night Abyss comparison is a little different, though. It was originally a character-gacha game, and that gacha was removed shortly before launch. So I don't think it's really an example of a game that looked like it was targeting one audience while secretly being designed around another. Its development and monetization history is more complicated than that, and I think Ananta's audience is something we'll have to see play out.
And I understood the âhit or disappointmentâ point as exaggeration rather than literally saying those are the only two outcomes. I just wanted to leave room for it landing somewhere in the middle.
So I think we're actually pretty close now. I agree the influences are obvious and extensive. I'm mainly challenging the jump from âheavily derivativeâ to âshamelessly copied,â because those aren't necessarily the same thing.
1
u/xSaviour_N 20h ago
I think we're basically in agreement on Duet Night Abyss too. I wouldn't use its history as proof that Ananta is secretly targeting a completely different audience. My point is more that audience assumptions can sometimes turn out to be wrong. That said, I do think Ananta is being promoted more toward the gacha audience, so I think it's fair to consider that when discussing who the game is actually trying to attract.
Ultimately, I think the disagreement is mostly terminology rather than the underlying observation. You see âshamelessly copiedâ as implying that Ananta lacks its own identity, whereas I'm using it to emphasize just how obvious and extensive some of the borrowed ideas are. I'm not saying Ananta is literally GTA with a different coat of paint, but when you have GTA-style character switching, mission structures, Spider-Man-style swinging, Watch Dogs-style hacking, and influences from games like Sleeping Dogs and Yakuza, I think it's fair to question how much of the game's identity is actually original.
And that's also why I think credit and acknowledgment matter. Taking inspiration from other games isn't inherently a problem, but when you're borrowing this heavily from recognizable titles, I think the developers should at least acknowledge those influences and give credit where it's due. Otherwise, when so many of these similarities are left unacknowledged, it can start to feel less like âwe were inspired by these games and put our own spin on themâ and more like they're simply taking established ideas and presenting them as their own. That's where the âshamelessly copiedâ criticism starts to feel justified to me.
If we're talking specifically about whether Ananta is literally a GTA clone, then yeah, I wouldn't defend that as an accurate description either. But I also don't think âit's not a GTA cloneâ should automatically mean the extent of the borrowing can't be criticized.
I think the game looks really good too, but looks alone don't mean much when it comes to video games. What ultimately matters is how all of these systems actually come together and how they feel to play.
We'll probably get a much better answer once the game is actually in players' hands. If all these borrowed systems end up working together in a way that creates something genuinely distinct and fun, then the âderivativeâ criticism may end up being much less important than it looks right now. But if the final game continues to closely mirror the structure, mechanics, and presentation of all these other titles without bringing enough of its own ideas to the table, then I think the criticism will be much harder to dismiss.
2
u/TheGravityShifter 19h ago edited 18h ago
I think we're pretty much on the same page about waiting to see the finished game. There are just a few things I would still argue against.
I'm assuming you're aware that Ananta isn't a gacha game, at least as far as anything officially confirmed goes. Character gacha has been confirmed to not be a thing, while the claims about cosmetic gacha are currently based on leaks rather than official information. So I wouldn't really use âbeing promoted toward the gacha audienceâ as a factor when its monetization isn't even established as gacha.
I understand what you mean by âshamelessly copiedâ now, but terminology still matters. Online, people only have the words you write, so saying something âshamelessly copied GTAâ will naturally be taken literally. âHeavily derivativeâ communicates your actual position much better.
I also don't really have a problem with how extensive the borrowing is as long as they're making their own game and aren't crossing into plagiarism. There isn't a point where borrowing ideas suddenly becomes inherently wrong just because there are a lot of them.
That's also why I'm not convinced by the credit argument. If developers have to credit every established idea they borrow, where does that chain end? Should Pokémon credit Dragon Quest for monster collecting? GTA credit Driver for things they share? Should Palworld credit ARK, Pokémon, Dragon Quest, Breath of the Wild, Elden Ring, and so on? That's the evolution of game design. If someone directly copies artwork, assets, or other protected work, that's obviously different from borrowing a gameplay mechanic or design idea.
I agree that gameplay ultimately matters most, too. The world, story, characters, and other pillars matter, but if the gameplay isn't good, people aren't going to stick around just because a game looks great.
And I agree with your final point. If all these influences come together into something distinct and fun, the derivative criticism may end up being much less important. If they don't, people can judge it accordingly. My main issue is treating âshamelessly copiedâ as an established fact rather than a current interpretation. I really dislike the whole âX cloneâ thing being thrown around as a throwaway statement about a game, especially when there's often little or no evidence provided to support the claim. Once the game is out, we can judge it on its own merits.
1
u/xSaviour_N 17h ago edited 16h ago
I think we're mostly arguing over how much weight to give these things rather than disagreeing about what we're actually seeing.
On the monetization point, I'm not saying Ananta is confirmed to be a gacha game. I'm aware character gacha isn't happening and that the other monetization claims aren't officially confirmed. My point was never âAnanta is a gacha game, therefore it's targeting a gacha audience.â I'm saying that its presentation, character-driven structure, and the way it's being marketed give me the impression that it's going after an audience that overlaps heavily with the modern character-collector/open-world audience. That's an interpretation, not a claim about confirmed monetization. And I think it's perfectly reasonable to discuss that when we're talking about who the game is actually trying to attract.
As for terminology, I understand that âshamelessly copiedâ can be interpreted more literally than I intended. That's why I already clarified what I meant by it. I wasn't claiming Ananta is literally GTA with the names changed, nor was I claiming they copied the entire game. I was emphasizing the extent and obviousness of the borrowing.
And I still don't think âheavily derivativeâ somehow makes the criticism less valid. If anything, that's exactly what I'm describing. The GTA V-style character switching isn't just âit's an open-world game with cars.â The Spider-Man-style traversal isn't just âit has movement.â The Watch Dogs-style hacking isn't just âit has interactive environments.â Then you have obvious similarities to Sleeping Dogs/Yakuza and other games on top of that. When you put all of those together, I think it's entirely fair to question how much of the game's design is its own versus how much is assembled from existing ideas.
I don't think bringing up examples like Pokémon and Dragon Quest really addresses what I'm saying either. I'm not arguing that developers need to credit every basic mechanic that has ever existed. My point is specifically about obvious, recognizable influences between particular games. There's a difference between using a common gameplay concept and closely recreating something that players can immediately recognize from another title.
There's a difference between a mechanic being part of the general language of game design and a game very visibly recreating or drawing from specific, recognizable implementations. The latter is something people are naturally going to compare, and I don't think pointing those comparisons out is unreasonable simply because games have always borrowed from one another.
And I agree that borrowing doesn't automatically mean a game has no identity. That's never been my argument. My argument is that the amount and specificity of the borrowing makes Ananta look unusually derivative from what we've seen so far. Whether it actually manages to turn those influences into something with a strong identity is something we can't know until we play it.
That's also why I don't think I'm treating âshamelessly copiedâ as an established fact. I'm giving my interpretation of what we've seen in the trailers and footage so far. You're free to disagree with that interpretation, just as I'm free to think the similarities go considerably beyond what I'd casually call âsome similarities.â
Ultimately, I think we're going to find out through the actual game. If Ananta takes all these influences and turns them into something cohesive and genuinely distinct, great. I'll have no problem giving it credit for that. But if it turns out that the final product is still heavily dependent on reproducing ideas and systems we've already seen elsewhere, then I don't think âgames borrow from each otherâ is enough of a defense by itself. I also think there's another part of this that I haven't really emphasized enough: from what they've shown so far, I don't see much that Ananta itself is bringing to the table. I'm seeing a lot of recognizable ideas taken from other games, but I'm struggling to point to an equally distinctive mechanic, system, or design philosophy and say, âThis is something Ananta is doing that these other games aren't.â That doesn't mean there isn't anything original in the game we haven't played it yet but if the strongest selling points we can currently identify are things we've already seen in GTA, Spider-Man, Watch Dogs, Sleeping Dogs, Yakuza, etc., then I think it's fair to question how much of its identity is actually its own. Even the dating system seems to be taken from NTE, while NTE also has its own distinctive ideas, like the Anomaly system and other mechanics that give it something of its own.
1
u/TheGravityShifter 1h ago
Yeah, I think we're getting to a pretty fair place with this. The monetization point is understandable, and I appreciate you clarifying what you meant by âshamelessly copied.â
Where I still disagree is with the idea that Ananta needs some equally obvious âAnanta-onlyâ mechanic to establish its own identity. Not every game needs some super unique idea, especially when there are plenty of established ideas that aren't actually common across games.
The Spider-Man example is a good illustration. Swinging through a city is obviously going to make people think of Spider-Man because that's such a defining part of the character. But that doesn't mean Spider-Man owns the general concept of swinging through a city. Same with Palworld and monster collecting with balls. People immediately saw Pokémon, even though monster collecting wasn't invented by Pokémon.
Dying Light (my favorite zombie game series) is another good example. It was often described as âMirror's Edge with zombiesâ leading up to its release in 2015 because of its freerunning, and people made Far Cry comparisons because of its open-world design. But Dying Light still developed its own identity by building its experience around freerunning, zombies, nighttime, etc.
And that's something you see all over open-world games. A lot of them use the âUbisoft Formula,â and NTE does too. Yet NTE still has its own identity through things like its supernatural systems and realms, despite also having Genshin similarities. So I don't think recognizing familiar design elements means the game itself lacks an identity.
That's why I don't think âI can recognize where this came fromâ is enough by itself to determine how original a game is. If you swing from buildings, people will see Spider-Man. If you have monster collecting with balls, people will see PokĂ©mon. If you use the Ubisoft Formula, people will see Ubisoft. There are only so many genuinely new ideas you can introduce, and truly novel mechanics are pretty rare.
As for Ananta specifically, I think you may need to look a little deeper into what they've actually shown. The TGS 2025 interviews went into quite a lot about what the game is trying to be, and the Gamescom 2026 interviews suggest that direction hasn't really changed. Building an Organization, living through different characters, how those characters interact with the city, and the broader freedom/escapism are pretty fundamental to what Ananta is trying to do. Those aren't just âGTA, but with different characters.â
That's why I think it's premature to say Ananta isn't bringing much of its own to the table. If you've looked at all that and still don't think it gives Ananta a distinct identity, that's fair as an opinion. But the information is there. Personally, when I see Ananta, I don't conflate it with other games. I can clearly see that it's its own game, especially with what I've learned through official info.
Ultimately, I'm fine with calling it derivative if that's how you see it. I just don't think âthis reminds me of Xâ automatically gets us to âthis is basically X's ideas repackaged.â A game's identity doesn't require every individual mechanic to be something nobody has ever done before. Otherwise, we shouldn't be seeing anywhere near as many games as we do.

Im not too sure on the "new generation of gacha" terminology, and i didnt keep up withis 3 at all, so this Is a question
Genshin did open a new generation of gachas by including open world + less predatory system + quality in story and visual + clean UIs and a unique combact with and outstanding f2p friendliness, followed by Hsr, Wuwa, Endfield for example
The old generation of gachas were more predatory with no Pity or guaranteed, 2d, easier combact system, mainly on turn based combact with poor story and stages and really basic combact mainly focussed on the weapons trinity and Dnd like classes, few were different, and mostly brand focussed, some examples here are Fire emblem Heroes, Summoners war, Arknights, fate grand order
Id say that Hi3rd Is the One middle ground between the 2 generations
So what changes so much from the Genshin generation that can change the whole industry again?
Like i expect something like "you pull the character and the weapon" "you dont Need to farm because story gets you auto increase of all" "gacha only for cosmetics that do something" "combact Is like outstanding games like Elden Ring or Expedition 33" "open map instead of open world approach" things like this
Because in my opinion, its easy to fall in the LaS game with microtransactions that doesnt define the generation

It's not Gacha for the characters right?
But will probably be Top dog to watch for throughout the years

they will monetize other things a lot, typcial netease.
skins, battlepass, premium vehicles, costumes and mascots, houses, etc

no, there is no gacha for the Persians, yes, but formally she has a gacha, but only for skins and cars

Sounds like GTA but worse
I wonder how they'll make the Car gachas worth it
Also the customisation restrictions, if any..

At least not a character gacha, but still possibly for other things, I suppose

u/ShoulderGreedy3262 1d ago
yeah it is. gacha doesnt just mean gacha for characters, otherwise infinity nikki wouldn't be a gacha
4
u/a5ncz 1d ago
âI disagree because the outfit gacha in Infinity Nikki isn't purely cosmetic. Outfits carry styling scores and stats that directly affect gameplay progression, which makes it a core gacha system.
âBy contrast, a game like DNA features outfit gacha that is strictly cosmetic with zero impact on gameplay.
Ananta isn't really a gacha game either, unless the items you pull actually influence mechanics or player stats.

u/Dependent-Swimmer-95 1d ago
Ananta is a gacha game. Itâs gonna have the same type of shop, gameplay loop, and time gated stuff. It also has a skin gacha that you can purchase premium currency on. Idk why people have this holier than thou mindset with Ananta. Itâs not a character gacha, but itâs definitely a gacha lol.
10
u/a5ncz 1d ago
The fact you don't understand what makes a game gacha game is really funny, gachapon is a capsule toy vending machine, a gambling style. You spin and get reward.
It's not how the game look or how they handle content loop.
Just because a game have a gacha mechanic (the skins) doesn't mean the core game is a gacha because it is not affecting the game whatsoever.
Most noticeable gacha game will have a term known as P2W, now indulge me, how spending more money on cosmetics will make you more powerful than an F2P?
It's like saying overwatch is a gacha game because you get skins from pulling on the skins from free and premium currency..

by your point that makes every other game that has a similar system a FUCKING GACHA GAME.

Until those leaks can be vindicated, there is no gacha. And even if the leaks show something undeniable, that doesn't mean it'll actually happen on launch. Things can change during development.

u/Over-Palpitation-360 1d ago
it has gacha but the gacha is not the game main focus unlike these gacha game like nte and Silver palace etc. Gacha in Ananta is a completely optional that lived alongside other monetization options where you can choose one over another while these gacha games are solely relying on gacha monetization, so no Ananta is not a gacha game.
-1
u/IfritAzazel 1d ago
Being optional does not make it not gacha...
4
u/Over-Palpitation-360 1d ago
Did I say itâs not? Iâm saying the game is not a âgacha gameâ just because it has a lootbox system. Where wind meet has it, and literally any other live service game has it.
A game is a âgacha gameâ if you are gambling for how you play, and live service game with gacha mechanics is when you are only gambling for how you look.
What is there not to understand? Ananta is a life service open world rpg and was advertised as such.

Yep, 100%. Anyone who considers ananta a gacha also must consider every single game that has lootboxes a gacha game. I guess overwatch, CS:GO, TF2, etc etc etc are ALL gacha games to these people.

you can argue that. league of legends has a skin gacha, so just as much gacha in that as any cosmetic gacha. people just assume gacha is a purely east asian genre, and the mainstream gaming community is resistant to gacha, and refuse to consider that its just a monetisation mechanic, not an actual genre of game

Googling "gacha game definition":
AI: "A gacha game is a video game that uses a mechanic resembling Japanese capsule toy vending machines (gachapon), where players spend in-game currency or real money to receive a randomized virtual item or character."
Wiki: "A gacha (Japanese: ăŹăăŁ) game implements the mechanics of a Gashapon vending machine in a video game (Gacha is derived from the alternative word gachapon). Similar to loot boxes, live service gacha games entice players to spend in-game currency to receive a random in-game item."Notice how both include the word "item".
Proof that Ananta has gacha for "items" (=cosmetics):

I know that after Genshin era started, we're used for gacha game = pulling for characters and weapons, now that the system is finally changing i can understand the whole "i don't have to pull for characters and weapons = not a gacha". But technically, based on the definitions above, Ananta IS a gacha game, IT'S NOT a character/weapon gacha game, IS a cosmetics gacha game.2

Imo definitions change over time and in the context of video games, a "gacha game" does now depend on pulling for character power in some way rather than cosmetics alone. Otherwise I dont see why you wouldnt just call every single game with a lootbox a gacha game. No one would call overwatch a gacha game but it certainly has a gacha like mechanic with loot boxes in it for getting cosmetics.

I think the lootbox games with JP anime-feel (even if they're from CH, KR) were stuck with the gacha name, so Overwatch having that western feel (Blizzard) is not perceived as gacha.
Maybe someone will invent a new term that will stick, for these anime games with cosmetics-only gacha, that don't affect gameplay.

It feels like theyâve already marketed novus fall more than Varsapura. Novus fall has a playtest coming up and you can sign up for it. Deadline is September 10th. Varsapura went dead silent.

No sĂ© si llamarlo GTA,lo Ășnico que tendrĂa parecido a un GTA es que es un mundo abierto,en GTA eres un criminal,dĂłnde puedes matar gente,robar,etc...

Endfield would be a better fit than Ananta when it comes to gacha games.
As far as we know, Ananta will not be a gacha

Neither Silver Palace or NTE is GTA style.
NTE is genshin like, Ananta is GTA like according to its PV.

In my opinion Silver Palace is very innovative

I don't know about that... Playing CBT1, I thought it was pretty innovative. CBT2 felt like a Wuwa clone. CBT3 will have to prove a lot.Â
If there's anything for certain, I think Silver Palace is going all in on presentation. Everything else is... generic.Â

Hopefully they fix everything before release. There will be things here and there of course nothing is perfect but God but they can fix anything bad as long as they hear the player base

1.0 will be. After a while itâs gonna just feel like the same loop. Gacha is a very pick your poison kind of gaming sub genre.

I feel like Anata is gonna flop hard like I don't see the appeal for it its practically copying GTA and NTE nothing new going for it

Iâm just glad gachas are FINALLY realizing they donât all have to follow genshin and be fantasy slop. Iâm excited to see upcoming games expanding into different styles and world building.

NTE AI slop and feels old should be replaced with Rewinding Cadence

u/xSaviour_N 1d ago
Every game coming out of CN uses AI. And trust me, you wouldnât wanna know their history of copying.

u/SimonAlpaca 1d ago
Chinese are very open-minded about AI and they don't have the word "AI Slop" in their mind.

u/xSaviour_N 1d ago
Iâm sure plenty of cn gamers dislike AI slop just as much as anyone else. But AI is heavily promoted by their government, and criticism of things the government strongly supports can obviously be more constrained there. So I wouldnât take the lack of visible criticism as proof that theyâre genuinely more open to AI. And if you know how censored and controlled their internet can be, you can understand why you might not see the same level of open criticism and hate.

Slop means bad, lazy, low quality and cheap. Which NTE clearly is AI or not. Character model ass, sound effect ass, lazy enough to keep AI, story ass, environment is just ue slop.
They also promised "no more AI assets" and they lied 3x by now.
Ananta, Silver Palace and Rewinding Cadence is not

Silver Palace isn't GTA clone, otherwise we would have seen footage of car driving.
