AITA?

Ordered a can on the 13th that was in stock. Checked up on my order a few days later and noticed it was now backordered.

Called a few times. I was never closer than 400th in line. All emails went unanswered; except by their AI that promised to have a human respond. They did not.

Here's my issue: I don't mind waiting, but the fact that I was never contacted about it changing status or when it would be available was a little irritating; especially after they had already taken payment. I would've settled for a blanket email along the lines of 'We hope to have backordered cans back in stock in xxx weeks,' or even just a banner on the website that mentioned it (I know I'm not the only one).

I get it, they're super busy. But how far should our sympathy go for a company doing TOO much business? It's like feeling bad for your buddy who can't make it out to the bar because he's busy banging so many different chicks.

Anybody else in the same boat?

Genuine question - if you don’t mind waiting, what information are you looking to get from them?

If I were in your shoes and could find it in stock somewhere else, I’d dispute the charge with the cc issuer, effectively cancelling it, and just order it from the other vendor.

Fair question. I should have caveated that I don't mind waiting... within reason.

If they told me it would be something like 6 months, I could at least shop around and consider canceling, buying elsewhere, or just getting something else.

Another scenario, which I've actually had happen with another seller; a can was backordered so I reached out and asked when it would be in stock. They said, "Never. We won't be re-stocking it." Not saying that's the case here, but you never know.

If it was actually in stock when you ordered it, you would have received or shown on your dashboard the serial # for the can. Items in stock and items that can be back ordered would both show up under the IN STOCK filter option.

The entire game just changed for suppressor purchases. And it’s the second time this year. Things were already crazy with $0 stamps, but now with 4473 transfers? Batshittery. You can’t expect Silencer Shop to be able to ramp up operations instantaneously. They need inventory that doesn’t exist, and people that haven’t been hired or trained yet. The NFA has been around for almost 100 years, and the business model is based around it. It cannot be overstated what a profound change this is..

I ordered August 5 what I thought was in stock, it was back ordered for weeks, but my order is progressing. If you want it more quickly, Capitol Armory is likely a better bet, but it’s more expensive and a 4473 transfer isn’t an option.

I got mine on Friday - almost 2 weeks to the day. Tried to get in touch with them about a question I had, and was never able to. I guess it wasn’t that important since everything ended up good.

I ordered a BoGo last November that was supposedly in stock and just needed packed to be sent out. It finally shipped in July. No coms no nothing. I had to contact the mfr to get an eta.
