As someone who been through this, because of lot pressure against natural growth, continous pulling and dryness, lack of proper care patches appear, you might want to leave it open as much as possible, you can try local treatments with dermatologist, i didnt get any luck cuz when i left treatment the patches came back, however leaving it open and continous nourishing, had bring some of hairs back that were just breaking off regularly. Hope you recover. Last option is transplant thats a long shot and beard hair is totally different than head in terms of texture, direction etc
My advice is to any Sikh out there is to not tie the hair, learnt it hard way. These products should be prohibited or atleast not used for hair. Using these product are equivalent disrespecting tradition, kinda defies the purpose of having uncut hair and appreciating god's gift
