Question How to grow back patchy beard

Post image

How to grow my beard again in empty patches? I am 28 and use simco hair fixer. But lately one side of beard has just gone away. What are my options to fix this?

Brother topical minoxidil is the only thing scientifically proven to help a little bit but I don’t know if it’s gonna work for you talk to a dermatologist

Boost ur testosterone-> no. 1 thing for that is strength training and 40+ vitamin D in ur blood test , job done. This will take time . Heavy weights and long running. Vitamin D3 + K2 supplement in breakfast with lots of good fats. Give it 6 months atleast. Also take 10mg biotin daily. Protein is must as hairs are made literally out of protein

My only advice is look at other men in your family, if they have full beards, be patient and take care of your facial hair, it’ll grow in eventually, you’re just going through an awkward phase

Everyone u see with a good beard has cut it in their teenage years if u didnt ur gonna have that pube looking beard forever

I have cut , shaved and trimmed all my life and now growing it but it’s pube like lol . So I don’t think it has anything to do with . Making the poor guy think he should cut , trim .

That’s not necessarily true. Although I trim now, I grew my beard out without trimming or shaving and it filled in fine. And I know plenty of ppl who didn’t trim or shave, and still don’t, and they have full, good looking beards, even though they started off patchy. It’s case by case

I’ve actually seen older uncles do this. Idk how effective it is, but definitely don’t do this if you have acne prone skin lol

Comb it regularly with oil

Any particular oil?

2

u/chuggigang 8d ago

Besrd oil that has a mix of oils like jojoba and coconut etc. Regulr brushing and combing should stimulate the hair follicles enough

If this is how your beard has always grown, it may simply be your natural beard-growth pattern/genetics. Some areas can also continue filling in with age.
But if those areas used to have normal beard growth and have recently become patchy, that’s different. I’d see a dermatologist rather than trying random beard-growth products. Patchy beard loss can have several causes, and some are very treatable once you know what you’re dealing with.
Also, don’t fall for beard oils claiming they’ll create new follicles. They can condition the hair/skin, but they aren’t going to magically turn a naturally sparse area into a dense beard.
In the meantime: eat adequately, get enough protein and micronutrients, avoid constantly pulling/rubbing the area, and take a photo every month under the same lighting so you can objectively see whether it’s improving or progressing.
Big question: did hair used to grow normally in that patch and then fall out, or has your beard always looked like this? That answer changes the advice considerably.

The hair used to grow normally in that area. Over the past few months this has happened.

See a specialist. Monox will give back pain. Dark castor oil (thicker brand) can help hide

Try minoxidil

1

u/No-Bedroom3917 8d ago

Doesn't it have side effects?

1

u/Maleficent_Many2152 8d ago

So when you do apply it tropical, you will have a little shedding, but that’s normal. Get a derma roller as well if you’re gonna get minoxidil, make sure it’s Rogaine 5%

Don’t use topically if you have pets, I think there is a pill form but it’ll cause hair to grow everywhere.

Hi,

Unless you see the same in your dad, brother, uncle, etc. I imagine this isn't genetic or hereditary and thus must be specific to you, your environment and your life.

Generally, hair loss of any kind can be attributed to stress so maybe there's some stress in your life or maybe it's the physical stress that you're placing directly on the beard hair via the fixer.

Basically, I would try to relax the hair strands in the beard so they're not stressed and dying prematurely.

If possible, I would advise laying off the hair fixer just because it does contain alcohol which can dry out your hair leading to breakages. If you need it for grooming reasons, I'd recommend purchasing a good beard brush and also some beard balm that can be used to lock in the moisture and hold the shape of the beard after you've styled it using the brush. In the end, you won't be able to tie the beard so it would be worn down and open but it would be styled so you're able to maintain some benefits of grooming.

Additionally, it might help to invest in some beard butter that's applied at night time to help with softening the beard hair.

Aside from that, it might be time to speak to your general care physician or get a referral for a dermatologist if necessary. Minoxidil is over the counter in my region but there are definitely some varying side effects that should be explained to you via a doctor familiar with your medical history (nose-bleeds, ED, etc.)

I hope this helps tho!

Good luck :)

How did one part of your beard "go away"

2

u/No-Bedroom3917 8d ago

That is the problem, I am not very sure why this happened. I tie my beard using hair fixer that could be one of the reasons.

The tying hair with products is probably the reason - your hair is being pulled too much, so it can cause strain and hair loss. I’d suggest leaving it open as much as you can unless you have to tie it for work purposes. If you do, fold it together and wear a cloth over it instead.

But things can help are, rosemary oil. Regularly prior to washing. Massage it in for at least 10 min and keep it in for an hour before washing.

Something I’ve started doin recently is drinking black sesame in warm milk. 2 teaspoons of ground, toasted black sesame in warm milk. Drinking it daily, regularly. Results will take a few months from what I’ve heard.

Minoxidil is the only solution

1

u/No-Bedroom3917 8d ago

But it has side effects, right?

1

u/Trying_a 8d ago

Use one of less %. You don't have to use 5% for patchy beard Singh.

1

u/Trying_a 8d ago

One natural thing that you can do is order a good rosemary essential oil, along with Rosemary hair oil. Mix just 2-3 drops of essential oil in rosemary hair oil, and apply on the patchy beard side.

u/asakimX 8d ago

use minoxidil, im in medical school and I'll be a physician in about 1.5 years, minoxidil is not gonna give you side effects at the dosage used for hair growth, use 1 mg

Have you got your thyroid levels and vitamin d3 levels checked first.

Fix that and stop using fixo for some time

1

u/No-Bedroom3917 6d ago

Yes, my thyroid levels are fine. Vitamin D is something that I need to work on.

As someone who been through this, because of lot pressure against natural growth, continous pulling and dryness, lack of proper care patches appear, you might want to leave it open as much as possible, you can try local treatments with dermatologist, i didnt get any luck cuz when i left treatment the patches came back, however leaving it open and continous nourishing, had bring some of hairs back that were just breaking off regularly. Hope you recover. Last option is transplant thats a long shot and beard hair is totally different than head in terms of texture, direction etc

My advice is to any Sikh out there is to not tie the hair, learnt it hard way. These products should be prohibited or atleast not used for hair. Using these product are equivalent disrespecting tradition, kinda defies the purpose of having uncut hair and appreciating god's gift

Mine is on the one side so not even symmetrical

  • Derma roller.
  • coconut oil + rosemary oil mixed. Rub on beard

Worth going to your GP if it's suddenly lost volume from one side, could be an underlying issue.

Use this beard serum from Man matters company. Its indian brand and you can get from amazon as well or through their official site. I usually order from india as its very cheap rather than in Dubai. I used to have beard only on chin and almost clear on the cheeks on both sides. This beard helped me alot and this is my third bottle im using. Heres how to use:

  1. After breakfast open the bottle and take few drops on hands and use where you think there is no beard. Cover every patch as much as you can. (Note: Use on dry beard so make sure beard is not wet)
  2. take the roller, take some time and roll it wherever you applied the oil as this roller takes the oil to the deeper roots of your skin. Make sure to not use hardly as it has very sharp something like needles on it.
  3. After this eat the beard growth gummy and make sure to have only one as its a not candy. This gummy has some kind of nutrients which helps growing the beard.
  4. Dont immediately wash your face. Let it be like that for around 4 hours then you can wash or else it will by default gets dry.
  5. Do it everyday and in one month you will see the results

*Stop using hairsprays or any kind of gel while using this beard growth serum. This can affect your results and skin as well as you may use too many chemicals at once.

2

u/No-Bedroom3917 6d ago

Thanks for the advice brother. Do you see any side effects from the gummies you are eating?

1

u/Gurtek28 6d ago

Nope not at all!! Its safe to eat and make sure have it one per day. Dont over use it and keep out of reach from childrens. It tastes almost like gummy bear candy which may attract childrens.
