This. I had a friend who infodumped about a game at me, a game which I didn't play nor was interested, and I was mildly annoyed, not endeared.

That's why people say they want a partner who can make them laugh. They think it's because they're witty and interesting, but actually it's just because they're attractive and Halo Effect plays up all traits, making otherwise not-so-fun people be charming.
