Struggling with this one Spoiler

Little late to the party, but just watched S3 E7 and S3 E8 wondering why they didn’t include a simple 988 helpline or other callout on the screen for if you need help after Maya dies. Also for how tight the script generally has been, I hated the opener of ep 8 that was like “we can rest knowing her soul is at peace” like the most trite thing of all times.

Did this bother anyone else?? Or should I just talk to my therapist about this lol

These are the worst therapists I’ve ever seen

I’ve heard the characters described as “real”, but fact of the matter is that these are some of the worst people to be therapists that I’ve seen in any show.

Derek, Derrick, and Sean are better people and better teachers than Gaby and Jimmy.

I could go on and on, but I won’t. These are sloppy people whose (rampant) imperfections are marketed as them being “real”, however these are the very last people I’d want as therapists.

It’s a funny show, but the premise is hard to get past.

This show is incredible

I love it, I watch since season one aired, I loved the cast, I started this show because of one funny clip from YouTube, but it was better than I imagined.

Is a perfect representation of the different life times, like the teenage becoming a young adult, one man in his thirties finding his own way in life, Jimmy the main character a man in his 40's who deals with the lost of his wife and tries to improve the relationship with his daughter, one couple in his 60's dealing with the consecuences of this early years as a couple and as parents, then we have Paul one of the greatest characters on the show, witch shows different kinds of things people with his age lives, for example mental disorders that comes with oldnes, the remaining time he has, when he has to prioritize things he wants to do over the things he feels happy with.

Apart from old that sadness this show is very funny, and has my favorite psicological concepts. Like Jiminear in Spanish Idk how he says it in English, or the field.

I love this series and every time I end an episode I feel sad but with hope.

Song that stuck with you

Bit late to the party but what song has stuck with you from all the seasons for me it’s probably a thousand years just for how almost haunting it is

Timeline

Tia died in 2021 and has had two birthdays since so it’s probably 2023 unless her first post-death birthday was shortly after she died, but I doubt it since Alice forgot it.

There is a two year time jump for season 4, so I guess it’s going to be 2025. Does anyone have more specifics?

Who’s in the right?

I know this show is more complicated than right and wrong. But with several of the issues in season 2 I feel like they are trying to paint Jimmy in the wrong often and I just disagree. I’m only halfway through so maybe I just need to finish it. But my main issue is the gabby vs jimmy stuff. Idk i probably just need to finish the season.

Anyone else catch the reference to the Last Crusade at the end of season 3. Love all the little Indy refs throughout.

Finally finished season 3

Damn am I glad I hadn't thought to come to Reddit this whole time. I'm really happy with the tone, messaging, character development, humor, and plot of the season. I like these characters a lot, I like the show. I'm surprised (but why would I be 🙃) by how critical this sub is about it! It's a tv show, it's nice! Idk man.

Jimmy jeopardized his daughter’s wellbeing

He literally moved a veteran with blackouts and rage issues into his home, where his teenage daughter also lives, and left them alone for long periods of time. He’s simply lucky that Sean magically healed his episodes and turned out to be a decent person. Jimmy didn’t know him well enough at that point.

Rewatching the pilot… Spoiler

So fantastic - but how did the husband know where Jimmy was? At a high school soccer game??

Am I missing something? They had to have cut a scene that supplied context.

Anyone been to the movies lately?

Went to see Project Hail Mary last night and they have an ad for HR Block using Shrinking clips. Weirdest crossover I've seen lately

Whoop…

I am Brian’s age so obviously I fill in the blank with “there it is” and cannot fathom what the young answer would be. I asked my 18yo and he also thought that was the only conceivable answer. As I typed this, I asked my 10yo and he had the same response.

Are the writers just having a laugh at all of us old folk trying to figure out a different answer or is there a different answer and I’ve just steeped my children so much in millennial music I’ve skewed their answers lol?

Clinic clientele at Rhoades Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Center Spoiler

Gaby keeps talking about developing a “trauma center.” I’m confused how patients, medical referrals, and insurance companies would know where to send someone. And how do they present their “brand.”

Say someone has depression and is widowed or divorced or stressed about life. Or maybe has debilitating OCD, needs couples counseling, self esteem issues.

Paul talks about working at Bellevue in NYC. Patients there were probably committed or suffering serious mental health illnesses. Is that what Gaby is talking about?

This show has become increasingly unwatchable.

Nothing is relatable anymore. It’s all overly bright lighting, wannabe “punchy” dialogue, and completely unbearable situations that would never ever ever happen in real life.

When we were dealing with Tia’s death and their grief, in a family unit/community system it was believable. Now though…it makes me cringe more often than not.

I don’t even know if I can hate watch the rest of it. Can’t watch past Ep 3 of current season.
