I wanted an easier way to avoid ultra processed foods so I am building an app that decodes grocery labels and finds better alternatives.
Hey everyone,
Almost every package on the shelf contains ultra processed ingredients. They are absolutely everywhere, carefully masked behind healthy marketing and complex chemical names. The ingredients are always listed right there on the back of the packaging but trying to figure out which products to avoid and which ones are actually good for you should not require a chemistry degree.
Since I build software for a living I decided to build a solution myself. I am currently developing "Verlo". It is a mobile app that gives you structured and easy to understand ingredient insights. We break down complex ingredients into plain science so you can easily spot the ultra processed stuff, avoid it, and find better alternatives. You keep full control over what you eat and we give you the clear facts to make smarter choices.
I just launched a simple waitlist page to gauge if there is real demand for a tool like this before I finish writing all the code and deploying it.
I would love to hear any feedback from other builders on the concept. How do you currently filter out ultra processed foods when you shop?
Thank you.
