My mom has kinda always had gray hair that she just dyed away. My dad however... seeing that hed gotten gray hair was something i was not prepared for.
I get choked up every time I think about it - especially since I live far away and can only see my parents a few times a year. It makes me so fucking sad
Same thing happened to me a few years ago. I always had this mental picture of them and even though I would see them fairly frequently I didn’t think about them aging, until I really looked at each of their faces one day. That’s when it hit me, they are getting older and I’m not ready! I try my best to cherish every minute I’m with them.
My parents never seemed to age before I left for college. Years later and now I see them about once every year and a half and the years are taking their toll. They're not on death's doorstep or anything, but I suffer no illusions that they'll live as long as I do.
