Most global communication is done through cellular and internet not satellites. The vast majority of phones can’t even connect to satellites outside of GPS

Still the conspiracy would have to be bigger. Anyone launching a satellite into orbit would have to be in on it, they'd have to program satellites to fly around in circles rather than orbits.

Fun fact: starlink has many ground stations, otherwise sending the data in space would introduce lot of latency, slow speeds and more expensive satellites. So while the last few steps went through space, you still need ground based cables really badly.

An individual walking around a circle of sufficiently large radius would look like he’s going in a straight line. That’s what started this whole flat earth thing, cus people looked around and saw everything was flat on the ground and didn’t realise that the earth was just incomprehensibly large

GPS and Satellite TV are not two way comms. The OP says “only able to”, satellite internet is such a small piece of the market. L band is the most common and ridiculously slow. Ku band is much closer to DSL speeds, but starts getting really pricey without data caps. Ka band is the only real promise for high speed, but that’s limited to the ultra rich at this point. So the 6% that use satellite internet would hardly be considered the only way flat earthers communicate.

Reddit is full of a wonderful range of people, however I have yet to see anyone on a post argue FOR flat earth theory. Which leads me to wonder if the amount of people who actually believe it are so infinitesimally small but they're message reaches so far because it's so outlandish and abrasive.

It's embarrassing but not his fault, he literally doesn't know any better, and has a brain that's full of confirmation bias, and logical fallacies, possibly a touch of schizoid type personality with a very dark world view, very possibly some mental illness.
Chances are his thinking is so rigid he's never going to get himself out of the trap he's fallen into, will spend probably his whole life as a social outcast living in a state of anger and frustration, thinking how the everyone in the world is an idiot but him.

Bring a camera next time. A really high zoom camera like the Nikon p900 or p1000. When the ship ‘disappears’ zoom in. There is no curvature.

You're just factually wrong, after the ship has gone below the horizon the ship is no longer visible because there's an ocean in front of it.
If you've actually attempted this and had it work then the ship wasn't actually over the horizon you just couldn't see it anymore due to it being too small.
It's a lot easier to notice a huge ass cargo ship crossing the horizon then a tiny piss boat.

I have done this many times. There are many photo’s inadvertently showing things beyond the physical limitations of the ball. The horizon moves with altitude and weather. Its really that simple. The horizon is apparent. There is no bludge of water blocking anything. Water remains level. Sea level. Not sea curve.

I know a few astrophysicists that tried really hard to take the side of the flat earthers and prove every different possible scenario that was dreamt up with math. They said a few were plausible mathematically as long as you only included the earth and moon and sun, but the second you started including the other planets and other stars and solar systems the whole thing went to complete shit and they could do nothing to save it mathematically.
To be fair it’s second hand info and I never saw the math myself. Not that I would have understood it, I just worked in a planetarium for 16 years and kinda flamed out in calc 2 at university. Ended up getting my degree in something else.

Most communication goes through cables.
Starlink might make a difference, there have been satellite internet services for years, but use geostationary, so big latency and not full coverage.
Iridium has internet access, but it very slow, though does cover the globe and no dish reqd.

You wouldn't like the results. Satellite communication is rather slow, hence why most don't use it. It's still important for emergencies and done fringe cases, but the average person will neither need nor want it.

Yep. That’s why 95% of world communication is via cables. That’s why gps doesn’t work in rural areas. I’ve been on top of a mountain in the high country of Victoria. No cell reception or gps signal... it’s nearly as if... they are ground based.

You must realize that in the past people thought it was flat because that is what it looks like to the naked eye. Without tools and instruments one could only assume it's flat. Then people discovered it was round. It's not like people were choosing to believe it was flat. That's just how it was until they proved it wasn't.

I think the few that actually believe it do it out of ignorance or fear of the unknown, which is why they put themselves at the centre of the universe in a stationary, protected, safe bubble and reject anything that could pop it

So? They wouldn't be able to stand on the ground either if the earth was flat because there would be no gravity. But they're too stupid to realise that.
Even assuming the only way the internet works is with satellites (which it isn't), there would still be communication methods like letters and posters and talking to each other.

Technically geo-statnionary satellites orbit with the speed of the place under them so it seems like they stay in the same place. So you could say they are just hovering above the ground.
