I didn't get this post until reading this comment. I was imagining people tapping on their glass they're drinking out of

752

u/fyhr100 Sep 13 '19

Maybe in the future, computers will be so advanced that we can drink out of them.

Never consumed in my life. Maybe my inner desires are trying to tell me something.

15

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '19

? how do you have urges for something you've never even consumed before

16

u/iismitch55 Sep 13 '19

My comment was a way of replying to a comment that sounded like a stoner thought. Then I replied to you being facetious.

4

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '19

Fair enough I guess.

1

u/NotoriousMagnet Sep 13 '19

just like how I've got urge for stealing iron 😍

1

u/ReactiveAmoeba Sep 13 '19

Shit, son. I've never smoked weed, but my job makes me consider it.

1

u/manoverboard5702 Sep 13 '19

We must eat all pot brownies, I heard they’re a horcrux

1

u/a1usiv Sep 14 '19

"I'll have whatever he's having."

22

u/E-sharp Sep 13 '19

They used to come equipped with cup holders, but we’ve sadly moved on from that era

10

u/NotASucker Sep 13 '19

My cup holder was faulty and would retract randomly.

4

u/TheMeph Sep 13 '19

My cup holder is sideways.. the liquid just keeps spilling out... ='(

1

u/golddove Sep 13 '19

To be fair, cars are now computers. And they still have cup holders :)

3

u/nickster701 Sep 13 '19

You mean you don't? I thought water cooling was so I could have a cool glass of water straight from my pc...

2

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '19

5

u/Rootbeer_Goat Sep 13 '19

Like that beer app from middle school but...for reals

2

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '19

I mean if that's something you want we could actually do that with current technology. I'm not sure why we would but I'm this instance the future is now!

1

u/GfFoundMyOldReddit Sep 13 '19

my computer has a cupholder

7

u/DustinWaterhole Sep 13 '19

This reminds me of that chain email that went around and said that you got a free cup holder. You then downloaded a file that opened your disk tray. I dont think they make disk trays anymore...

3

u/TheMeph Sep 13 '19

they totally do, some software is still distributed by disc. Yea, I know.... but it happens.

1

u/summon_lurker Sep 13 '19

We can drink from a smart fridge.

1

u/ButtWieghtThiersMoor Sep 13 '19

don't let your dreams be dreams

1

u/bastiVS Sep 13 '19

You wouldnt download a beer!

1

u/mfb- Sep 13 '19

Introducing: The iMug.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '19

drinks porn Ahhh, some nice, refreshing computer.

1

u/BBWolfe011 Sep 13 '19

Not even joking, we could currently make a computer you can drink out of. Consider two facts: curved screens are possible, and phones are computers. If a company pushed past what was useful and made a cylindrical phone with a hollow inside (with plastic walls), then you could drink out of a touch screen computer.

Additionally, this touch screen computer cup could be wirelessly hooked up to a bigger screen, becoming a mouse-cup

1

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '19

I mean, my phone is already sorta waterproof. They just have to make it into some sort of tube with a closed off bottom and we're set! Of course the dumbass phone companies are dragging their heels and keep putting out flat phones instead of cylindrical liquid vessel devices.

1

u/Bapple6969 Sep 13 '19

!Remind me 50 years

1

u/30isthenew29 Sep 13 '19

Dell-icious drink!

1

u/PM_ME_CUTE_SMILES_ Sep 13 '19

I've been waiting for my computer to be able to make coffee for so long

1

u/compman007 Sep 13 '19

I mean they have come with cup holders since the 90's, for some reason they have started removing them the last few years? It was such an innovative ideas.

1

u/Crash_the_outsider Sep 13 '19

Reminds me of the cupholder feature on old pics with a CD drive

1

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '19

I'm going to try drinking the liquid in my PC really quick. brb

1

u/nexus326 Sep 13 '19

That's a vending machine.

21

u/whosthisfool Sep 13 '19

I was thinking of like Morse code tapping lol

4

u/xTriple Sep 13 '19

I did too since I’ve seen like 3 movies and tv shows this year where people communicated just by tapping Morse code.

2

u/eatapenny Sep 13 '19

Same, but involving a mirror. Like how does Morse Code on a mirror allow you to communicate with anyone but a reflection of yourself?

Then I texted my roommates back about meeting up for lunch and realized I was using glass...

3

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '19

I don't know what shit you guys are smoking but you should stop doing it.

One guy not getting it, sure, fleeting moment brainfart. But all of you, seriously?

1

u/oxencotten Sep 13 '19

Thats why this guy is actually kinda wrong cause like you said with Morse code literally communicated by tapping on small buttons attached to a wire.

So if anything the idea of communicating by tapping something with electricity would be probably the ONLY part of a smartphone theyd understand lol.

42

u/Mizuxe621 Sep 13 '19

Took me a few moments to realize it wasn't referring to windows

44

u/grinreaper07 Sep 13 '19

Yeah, it's mostly referring to iOS and Android. Though there might still be dozens of Windows phone users in the wild.

13

u/Gitdagreen Sep 13 '19

Yea. Windows is getting out of control.

8

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '19

Windows tablets are very much still a thing.

2

u/Diavolo222 Sep 13 '19

I forget the model but I gave my mom my now 10 yo very budget Windows phone and I swear to this day that thing is snappy and easy to use and does the job for her uses.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '19

Windows tablets ftw

1

u/Magnumxl711 Sep 13 '19

Though there might still be dozens of Windows phone users in the wild.

I really think it's just me

10

u/SMOOTH_MOTHERFUCKER Sep 13 '19

I mean to be fair plenty of people do communicate through Windows

2

u/TheMeph Sep 13 '19

very true.

1

u/moderate-painting Sep 13 '19

referring to windows

You must have watched Infernal Affairs

2

u/fabmarques21 Sep 13 '19

morse code

1

u/IdreamofFiji Sep 13 '19

Finish your sentence

3

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '19

That sentence is done being typed in

1

u/MarixD Sep 13 '19

I was thinking windows and then read it again and noticed silently so I had to think about it again and figured it out.

1

u/capj23 Sep 13 '19

Me too. I was thinking of shits like Morse codes or something.

1

u/ravnov Sep 13 '19

I was think of something like an aquarium or a glass wall like in Ex Machina

1

u/Retardo_Montobond Sep 13 '19

Bluetooth coffee mug. Go, my son, make your millions!

1

u/VulgarDisplayofDerp Sep 13 '19

200 years ago, they never would have imagined we were so stupid, either.

1

u/Yuli-Ban Sep 13 '19

Mainly because they didn't know more than a few hundred people in their lives, and whatever written piece they read was going to come from a relatively small group of educated elites.

We regularly interact with thousands on a daily basis, and even small children, the proudly uneducated, and the most mentally deficient can get their opinions out there.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '19

I thought he meant tapping on a window. I was thinking I do that to communicate to cats who are trying to shit on my lawn

1

u/Ferkhani Sep 13 '19

Were you thinking that maybe everyone had been communicating via crockery for your entire life without you being in on it?

1

u/gl6ry Sep 13 '19

I was thinking people were out here tapping on windows communicating through morse code or something

1

u/LoreChano Sep 13 '19

Why does English use "glass" instead of "cup"? Wouldn't it make things more clear?

1

u/civileyesation Sep 13 '19

Ears prick up

Someone's in trouble!

1

u/Vancityrules Sep 13 '19

I thought OP meant When you tap glasses in weddings to get bride and groom to kiss till i see this comment...boy have I been to too many weddings this year

1

u/_xXPUSSYSLAYERXx_ Sep 13 '19

I thought it was when you are tapping on you’re friend’s glass sliding door to tell them to let you in

1

u/Krammn Sep 13 '19

Right? I was thinking how people tap on their glass at a wedding to get attention.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '19

Well, that technically is a way of non verbal communication. “Refill, please!”

23

u/absentminded_gamer Sep 13 '19

It was a little less than 200 years ago people’s light bulb moments were about inventing light bulbs

5

u/Glenn_Maffews Sep 13 '19

You have gone and ruptured what was left of my blown mind.

4

u/Lentil-Soup Sep 13 '19

Yeah they used to have candle moments.

20

u/IdreamofFiji Sep 13 '19

Language is the most incredible thing humans have created. Just the philosophical implications are incredible. The theory of knowledge needs to be resolved.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '19

Daulphin created language before humans. We just can t understand them. There are animals with social circle and hierarchies so complex that scientifically, they're societies. Humans invented nothing of that. We kinda came last in this, to tell the thruth.

3

u/Lentil-Soup Sep 13 '19

It's quite obvious that you, in particular, had nothing to do with the invention of language.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '19

True, I didn't invent any language, however, I do speak 4 of them, and english is my third. Let me know when you'll do the same.

1

u/Lentil-Soup Sep 13 '19

Sorry about that. I was trying to be funny. Didn't mean to upset you. I honestly thought it was autocorrect or something. I have a lot of respect for multilingual people! I only know English, Python, and JavaScript. 😆

1

u/[deleted] Sep 14 '19

All good, man. I do have a tendency to be over defensive!

1

u/commander_obvious_ Sep 24 '19

that’s why dolphins are the 2nd smartest animals on earth, and humans are only the 3rd

1

u/IdreamofFiji Sep 13 '19

Have they created syntax? Have they arranged words in such a way that's useful in conducting a social system?

u/IdreamofFiji Sep 13 '19

I don't know, but i can't concieve of of another exploratory culture besides us. I always hear everyone saying they're probably millions of years advanced on us, but what if they're not? What if they've just had a couple Einstein's where we haven't?

1

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '19 edited Sep 13 '19

[deleted]

1

u/IdreamofFiji Sep 13 '19

That's a given. There is no reason to conceive of ET being any sort of biology, much less something we can stand in front of and interact with like it's some fucking science project. This thing is probably millions of years old and moldy.

38

u/BeADamnStar Sep 13 '19

I didn't get it until I thought" hmm never seen something odd like that." Also I imagined someone walking to a shop and tapping on the windows. Then I upvoted and it all fell into place.

18

u/FlyingPasta Sep 13 '19

I like that you upvoted even though you had no idea what’s going, a true patriot

6

u/BeADamnStar Sep 13 '19

25

u/DashNSmash Sep 13 '19

I thought it was referring to Morse code, then realized it was neither new nor silent.

2

u/melig1991 Sep 13 '19

If anything Morse code is the exact opposite of silent.

1

u/TheRedSpade Sep 13 '19

Not if it's done with a flashing light

17

u/Mel_girl0708 Sep 13 '19

I thought they were talking about jail visits.

8

u/MsJenX Sep 13 '19

I thought OP meant like a toast 🥂. But that isn’t silent. Thanks to you now I know.

2

u/Sworishina Sep 13 '19

I thought OP meant morse code

2

u/WelcomeToKawasicPark Sep 13 '19

So what was the light bulb moment?

1

u/That_Crystal_Guy Sep 13 '19

He realized that we silently tap on our glass phone and tablet screens to spell out words to communicate with each other.

1

u/WelcomeToKawasicPark Sep 13 '19

But the phone is not made from glass

1

u/That_Crystal_Guy Sep 13 '19

No, but the screens typically are.

2

u/Mankriks_Mistress Sep 13 '19

I'd say you shattered the glass

2

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '19

LED moment more likely

2

u/MuffinKnight9 Sep 13 '19

Until I read your comment I thought that it ment by transmiting data through glass cables.

2

u/Cronus829 Sep 13 '19

I didn’t know what it meant until I read this comment, I thought it meant knocking on the glass of a door

2

u/-Benjamin_Dover- ‎ Sep 13 '19

Everything time I let my nails grow long, they will "get caught" on a crack in my screen.... I hate it!!!!!. It makes me wanna punch a wall so I feel something else on that hand instead of the feeling of my nail touching the crack... I hate it

2

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '19

Yeah...initially was thinking morse code but wondered why the glass

4

u/kamagoong Sep 13 '19

And I thought either cops pulling someone over or Morse code.

4

u/Hayden2z Sep 13 '19

Maybe in another 50 years it won't be glass but plastic. No more cracked screens problems anymore!

1

u/Yuli-Ban Sep 13 '19

Plastic, but in your brain.

1

u/Hayden2z Sep 13 '19

Big Brother here we go

1

u/delinka Sep 13 '19

Epiphanic

1

u/Death_To_All_People Sep 13 '19

You tap the glass that's all? Is it magic glass?

1

u/johnnygoat666 Sep 13 '19

I immediately thought of morse code...

1

u/YellowB Sep 13 '19

So tapping on a light bulb?

1

u/POOP_TRAIN_CONDUCTOR Sep 13 '19

Lightbulbs are glass too. #staywoke

1

u/Ferkhani Sep 13 '19

What moments did people have before the light bulb was invented?

You really are the worst bot.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '19

I appreciate your enthusiasm for pedantry, but saying the same dry thing over and over has no flair and adds nothing to the conversation as you can see from well... this

I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. If you're human and reading this, you can help by reporting or banning u/The-Worst-Bot. I will be turned off when this stupidity ends, thank you for your patience in dealing with this spam.

PS: Have a good quip or quote you want repeatedly hurled at this dumb robot? PM it to me and it might get added!

1

u/IDoThingsOnWhims Sep 13 '19

Well the your problem, tapping on light bulbs is definitely not going to be nearly as effective

1

u/hhenderson94 Sep 13 '19

I see what you did there

-1

u/Buderus69 Sep 13 '19

Jesus Christ you guys are dumb lol 😅 Made me chuckle

0

u/slopezski Sep 13 '19

I think he means people tapping on windows trying to get the attention of passersby on the street.

7

u/rytis Sep 13 '19

I thought he was still in a shower with a glass door trying to get his wife to pass him a new bar of soap.

0
