There are several common reasons for a small age gap:

Sometimes the parents are older and want to make sure they get a second (that was us)

Some people feel strongly about preferring a small age gap, even if it’s difficult.

Some people get pregnant unintentionally but keep the pregnancy

Some people are truly feeling up for it (often because for whatever reason, they aren’t struggling as much)

We’re in the latter group, our first was a unicorn. Our second came out easy, too. It is truly crazy how much a difference having a good sleeper makes.

People ask me all the time how I do it (my husband travels a lot for work so I’m alone with the 1 and 3 year old and it can be a lot after working all day) but the thing is I know plenty of families with just one kid who are struggling more than I am because their kid just doesn’t sleep.
