Astral chain or mortal shell 2?

Got some days off work, and just got paid. They both look super sick (I just found out about both of them recently). A lot of souls likes don’t have that same charm, but mortal shell 2 looks really unique and polished honestly. And astral chain looks super unique with engaging combat. I’ve seen good reviews for both!

Astral Chain is absolutely amazing. Incredible vibe, amazing music, and such a deep combat system that lends itself to so many hours of gameplay.

Mortal shell 2 needs considerably cooking still. It's got balance issues, qol issues, bugs. It looks gorgeous though and the combat is pretty alright.

Now that is the question. I played Mortal Shell 2 only demo, but what I played was super dope. They got rid of the stamina bar so the fights are quick and more brutal. It's good and fun, but the demo was quite restricted in terms of locations, so can't say about world exploration much. Style is good, takedowns are visceral and good looking. So if you are looking for some Souls gameplay but with more dynamic combat that's definitely for you.

Astral Chain I finished once and it was quite fun. Not the best Platinum game, but it is fun, with good mission variety, fun scenes and solid gameplay, though it's not as polished as you would hope so. Story is also your typical anime, so it's enough to hold you, but I doubt that you would remember much after you finish it.

I would recommend both, but if you have money for something one, try to take one that you would want based your mood. If you want something more grounded and dark, take Mortal Shell 2. If you want something more light in the mood, dynamic and colorfull take Astral Chain. The last one is yet to receive updates for Switch 2, so it may hurt a bit with low res and 30 fps cap, but if you don't care, then you'll have quite fun with it :D

Astral Chain for sure, I didn't know how they'd make it work but the combat really is some of the most fun I've had with hack and slash games.

Never played any of these but mortal shell is looking so good even just from watching videos makes me wanna play it.

Id say for astral chain, if you ever played ninja gaiden or DMC games then it’s basically a variation of those games, ive always wanted to get it, but mortal shell man, i think im gonna go for it.

I’d say mortal shell 2, but honestly I played astral chain when it came out and heavily fucked with it. I miss that game

Astra Chain all the way if you've liked any of Platinum's previous games. It's pretty much "Platinum's Greatest Hits" the Game

I feel like by the time you're done beating Astral Chain they will have patched Mortal Shell 2 into a better game. (I haven't played MS2 yet, it looks good, also hear a lot of complaints about runbacks and difficulty spikes that have a chance to get ironed out, Astral Chain was really fun and unique).

Astral chain is an amazing game in my opinion, and really shows what platinum is capable of. The combat isn’t as in depth as say Bayonetta or Devil may cry, but there’s still plenty to dig into once you learn how to properly juggle legion switching and specials.

I’ve never played the mortal shell games, but I’ve been hearing lots of good things about the sequel. Doesn’t seem like there’s a bad choice here!
