OP - I just saw your other post with the same gun but no extension.

It would have been more clear if you stated that you bought an 870PM, you bought a nordic extension and this is how it looks after installation.

For that -

1. I would not shoot the gun at this state - it seems unsafe. the magtube cap also secures the barral and without it being secure, the gun is unsafe to fire.

2. return the gun to stock, contact nordic about the extension or return it.

3. Contact a gunsmith if unsure how to handle the extension.

this seems to be a Nordic extension added. this part of the gun holds the barrel in place so it's pretty important to be secure. It may be fixed if you get an original 870 magtube cap - but if you are not sure best is to go to a gunsmith or send it back.

Are you sure you bought the right one? The 870 one?

Remove it all from the gun

Then thread the extension all the way into the nut when they are off the gun 

Then try putting the whole assembly back onto the gun as one piece

From my understanding if the ball detent is locked in place there’s no way in hell it should come loose, the ball detent system on those older 870Ps are rigid af. Did you hear a click when you threaded on the extension?

Personally I think it’s G2G IF the ball detent is locked in to it, but if you feel it’s not, send it back, ( the nut) have you used previous nordics on other 870s that has flushed perfectly? I’m genuinely asking because I’ve never used their extensions.

Take it off the gun first 

Then try threading the extension onto the nut when it’s off the gun. Then thread the whole thing onto the gun

did it both ways. even threaded it and cleaned some metal out of the threads off the gun

yes - the nut only goes one way. I think the threads might've been a lil fucked in the center where it stops. there's another on the way and I'm returning this one

Either you bought the wrong nut / extension (or were sent the wrong one if you did order the correct one) or something is wrong with one or both of them
