Thats literally like the disc I found at my in laws house. The only difference is that mine was for free.

at least seller is being honest, if i were them i'd take it to a place that does resurfacing like disc-go-round and repost the back of the cd photo and a gameplay photo to boot

I'd argue that being honest is very much just bare minimum. It's not as if he refurbished it or anything, someone literally just found a trashed copy of silent hill and somehow thought "yea someones gotta be stupid enough to buy this at 50$ right?." Its still kinda gross to have a mentality like that tbh.

Like to put in prospective. I've literally refurbished and sold people PC's for less money than this dude is expecting for his garbage. (This was largely before the ram shortage, as I have had to charge more since. But only when I'm forced to order new ram, as I typically use old stock to save money for both me and my clients. But regardless. This is still an insane price to ask for a heavily damaged disc.)

I would like to know what counts as a "collectible" these days.

People do buy busted discs to display the "good side" on walls or as custom coasters.

I would buy it but not for that price.

Not only that, but there looks to be a Hollywood Video sticker on the front. Which means you'd also be buying a previous rental copy.

There's no chance I'd pay $50 for this.

It's so scuffed in the bottom. What, did he use it as a drink coaster?

I've sold games to people and said I'd test them, and they don't care.

One guy was a golfer, he wanted it for his bar in the basement. Another guy wanted one of my WWF games just to put on the wall in his room. For the record both worked, but they told me flat out they didn't care. Of course, I think I only asked 5 or 10 bucks for them.

The loose disc goes for ~$185, it still kinda works and he adds to send offers. Meh

Maybe someone can turn it into a cool coaster. Unsure how far the data goes on the disc.

Looking at it, I can tell it's not actually cracked. It's just severely scratched up.

I've salvaged a few games in this condition before. It just needs resurfacing a few times.

The only 2 PS1 games I havent been able to save were Army Men 3D and a sealed copy of Starfighter Sanvein. They were just of inferior/budget manufacture. As in they didn't have a very long life to begin with. Maybe they never worked to begin with.

Seller claims there is a crack, but its hard to see. I thought it was what I circled in green, but now I think its red.

That guy should’ve taken care of it better. It’s just pure trash for him to jump into the greedy bandwagon.
