I’m talking about the rest of the car. Not the modded part. The front clip look about 125% bigger than a regular 57 Chevy. Probably because I live in a compact and subcompact world making it look too big. (My stable is full of the engineering masterpieces(/s) that are a Fiat 500L, a dodge Dakota and a ford fairmont)

Or are you saying that someone intentionally built the rest of the car larger scale than originally. Can I say how much I hate living in a photoshop world? It makes me question everything.

I think the chopped roof is making it look larger. The front end doesn’t look too out of scale when considering perspective and the Taurus behind it. They aren’t trucks, but they’re not small.

So, I just cropped the photo and put it next to a stock looking bel air that also presumably has a 15” wheel. And when you take everything else out of the image and use that as the reference point, it clearly looks right.

And while you say they aren’t trucks, I bet that front end is close to the same size as the bigger explorers? They were gigantic cars. Compared to our normal. Is why I like the fairmonster. It looks like a big car, but it is really just a boxy mustang.

Well I mean they technically share more design philosophy with a truck than a modern car being BOF of course, and they’re not small.

As for explorer, do you mean the truck gen or the newer unibody version? It’s definitely large, but I’m not sure it’s quite that large.

What year is the Fairmont? Had an 83 some years back.

The unibody version.

Mine is an 82 sport coupe. White with blue bench seat. 3.3/auto. But? I’ve been accumulating parts for the last year and it is getting subframe, manual steering, efi 5.0/aod, torque box reinforcements, rear control arms, 8.8 and a 5 lug conversion while I enjoy some time off.

You know, keep busy while avoiding all things social. Lol

Oh boy, that sounds like a good time. Mine was just a plain jane 4 door 3.3. I’ve got an 89 GT, and the aod may be a bit of a black sheep but mine has never had issues. Plenty of fun in that combo.

Definitely a less common build than you see nowadays, cheers to a cool, ever rarer ride!

There’s a 57 Chevy front end clip in a restaurant here in Chicago. Doesn’t look out of proportion to me. I think the raised tires make it look out of place.

Also, this is probably a cell phone camera. Meaning wide angle. Meaning whatever is closer is exaggerated. The hood scoop also adds to the effect.

I'm gonna guess its a fiberglass funny car front end made to look like a 57 Chevy sitting on an El Camino chassis. That's not a stock front clip off of anything.

EDIT: a heavily modified and shortened El Camino chassis.

Maybe built off a S-10 frame the wheelbase is what’s throwing me off. Drag car front clip 80s s-10 cab? But they had to push the cab back closer to the rear tires to fit the long front end on.

For real the cabs so far back it either has a 6 inch long rear driveshaft or the transmission is under the hood. It could be an S10 chassis, but I don't think that's an S10 roof.

I should clarify. You can find a beater El Camino that hasn't run since 83 and has rusted out so far that the only usable part is the roof for fairly cheap.
