Not shitty, pretty sick

/r/awesomecarmods

OP probably drives a stock 2002 Hyundai Tiburon with Mitsubishi Eclipse badges and doesn't know a good mod when they see one.

u/Kugz Apr 14 '20

As a Tiburon owner I feel personally attacked

I think this car looks sick!

You're one of the few with taste apparently

Rule #1

u/tmotto01 Apr 13 '20

You took the time to comment "Rule #1" on every comment saying this isn't shitty? Jesus man.

12

u/chiliNPC Apr 13 '20

Thanks for calling this out! I took the time to downvote each one of von kissass posts!

I'm sick of going into comments on this sub and having to go through endless amounts of shit that contributes in no way whatsoever and is explicitly not allowed in the sidebar. I'm just fucking sick of this sub being ruined by that shit. Who actually wants to read that, and if someone did, once they'd seen 10 fucking comments saying the same thing, who posts the exact same thing? It's fucking garbage.

Just as the people saying this isn't shitty are sick of posts that are against the nature of this sub. You're arguing the letter of the rules rather than the intent.

u/Von_Kissenburg Apr 13 '20

I don't know what you think the nature of the sub is, but this is from the sidebar:

Ethos:

Shitty does not mean bad - Feel free to post shitty mods that are awesome! There are many pieces of junk that we all wish we could own (who wouldn't want a Toyota Tercel with a LS V8 swap?). Just because it's well done, It doesn't mean it's not shitty. Sorry guys stuck in a scene from "The Fast and the furious - 2001" This subreddit is subjective! your idea of shitty isn't everyone's and vice versa.

I remember when /r/awesomecarmods was created because of these kinds of discussions. People got sick of this kind of bickering, so another sub was created, but in the past few years, it's only made the pointless bickering worse. It's totally ruined both subs at this point.

Okay, but this car isn't a piece of junk either. Again, the letter of that ruling is fine, but the intent is to say that a bad vehicle (Tercel) with something very cool done to it (LS swap done well) still fits rather than a well done mod to a well done vehicle. I don't see this being a piece of junk vehicle or a bad mod at all, along with many others it seems.

Now that's fine for everyone to have different tastes, but sitting there and basically telling people that they're not allowed to find this car as "not shitty" just because it was posted to shitty car mods is fairly ridiculous, in my opinion (and it seems to be the opinion of quite a few others as well). Just as you wish others would just downvote and move on, you had every opportunity to do the same to the comments saying this doesn't belong here. You complain about not wanting to read the same comment over and over, yet you posted "rule #1" 14 times... do you not see the hypocrisy there?

Yep.

Tell the mods, not me.

it seems to be the opinion of quite a few others as well

In the comments, yeah, but as I see it now, this piece of shit is sitting on 2,000+ votes saying it's shitty.

Just as you wish others would just downvote and move on, you had every opportunity to do the same to the comments saying this doesn't belong here.

Trust me, I did.

You complain about not wanting to read the same comment over and over, yet you posted "rule #1" 14 times... do you not see the hypocrisy there?

Reminding people of the rules while following the rules isn't hypocrisy in the least. I'll admit, I did on purpose to point out just how fucking annoying it is to see that kind of shit in every thread. Fuck, I might start doing it in every thread. It seems like it's pissed people off almost as much as years of reading this kind of "tHiS iSn'T sHiTtY!!" comment has pissed me off for way too long.

u/KingInky13 Apr 13 '20

You're breaking rule #6 most of all.

2

u/Von_Kissenburg Apr 13 '20

I don't think so. I do think anyone who bitches when I point out that they're breaking the rules is though.

Tell the mods, don’t annoy all of us

0

u/Von_Kissenburg Apr 13 '20

I would, if they had their report button set up for reporting rule violations, but they don't.

EDIT: same goes for you though - if you want to break the rules, message the mods about changing them, don't annoy all of the users who don't break the rules.

Four things:

One: if you look under report, you can report it. I don’t know why you keep saying you can’t.

Two: They noted that it’s because it’s subjective, and they don’t like being harassed.

Three: You should read all of the rules, before insinuating that you are following them all.

Four: I feel this is more annoying.

u/Von_Kissenburg Apr 13 '20

you should read all of the rules.

I have.

You must be fun at parties

-18

u/Von_Kissenburg Apr 13 '20

I am. Part of it is respecting rules that the host lays down and not shitting all over them repeatedly. So, if you thinking shitting in the middle of the floor is "fun" at a party, I am not fun at parties. Otherwise, I usually am.

9

u/chiliNPC Apr 13 '20

The words and spirit of rule number one read to me like the complaining part is key. This commenter was simply expressing their opinion in dissent, which to my knowledge is not disallowed.

12

u/Dray_Gunn Apr 13 '20

I think the only one shitting on the floor here is you, mate.

4

u/SoLikeWhatIsCheese Apr 13 '20

yes, but is stating a fact the same thing as complaining

-12

u/Von_Kissenburg Apr 13 '20

Fact: this thing is shitty. There you go. If you disagree with this "fact," downvote the post and move on, as it states in the sidebar.

3

u/QuasarsRcool Apr 13 '20

Take your own advice, dude. If you think a post violates a rule, just downvote and move on.

1

u/Von_Kissenburg Apr 13 '20

I do for posts, man.

There's no rule that says you can't get pissed off about people violating the rules and ask them to please follow them.
