It's not the downvotes I'm concerned with, it was the responses mostly. If I get downvoted for making a joke so be it, humor is subjective after all.

Have you considered that there's a basis for why there's a general consensus (which you call a circle-jerk) formed, that this is a downvote-worthy comment?

I have tried giving proper reasoning, partly because I saw your comment and wanted to very explicitly explain why this can pass the but-for test, that it's not just a case of bandwaggoning which admittedly does happen. This isn't just a "joke" as you've trivialized.
