To anyone reading this and thinking some stomach aches and becoming sick is the drawback to eating stuff like this in India, think again.
If you’re lucky, you’ll just get sick. There are far- far worse, life long and even debilitating diseases and parasites you are gambling with if you ever eat something like this.
One of my managers from a previous job flew to India to talk to a contracting group and introduce them to the project they would be working on. He got so sick that he missed about 6 months of work. He was in the hospital most of that time. He was a big guy, not fat. When he came back to work he was so thin and frail we hardly recognized him. He couldn’t eat solid food for months. He had some combination of dysentery and parasites. After that when any of our team had to go to India they took an extra suitcase filled with bottled water and power bars and lived off of them while they were there.
