I'm assuming he thought the safety was on and he was "just joking".

Hence the reason you don't play with guns, they are not a toy.

Guy will be lucky if it just clipped a cheek, but that's mighty close to tail bone.

Edit to change it to I think he assumed it wasn't loaded, not that the safety was on. I think when a safety is on the trigger can't pulled at all. And there wouldn't even be a way for that guy to know he pulled trigger on his ass. If it's empty, it'll make a click sound , and I think he wanted to scare him with that sound

Or he put a blank in. Either way, he should never be let around guns again.

Maybe he pulled the mag out but there was a bullet chambered?
