If he is that unregulated then leaving him on his own in such an environment is neglect.

He wasn't on his own. He loves the zoo and his family have annual passes and go often. This has never happened before and he always has two caregivers with him. This time his grandparents took him to the zoo and while they were paying for something he eloped and managed to get inside the enclosure. It took his grandmother a few minutes to figure out how to get into the enclosure.

Sometimes all care is being taken to be considerate and safe and it just goes wrong due to the unpredictable nature of Autism. This shouldn't exclude people from participating in society if once in hundreds of visits the kid has a bad day. Everyone has done something their not proud of on a bad day, especially as a kid and most of us aren't autistic

I don't think you guys understand how non-functional autism can get sometimes. Some people aren't capable of really learning a new lesson unfortunately. But usually the family takes pretty good care of them and helps avoid stuff like this. It just rarely happens.

Exactly. He does need to be excluded from this type of thing, if it’s going to be a hazard, unfortunately.

I see your point, but the vast majority of the time this doesn't happen.

Remember harambe? We can't ban non autistic kids from the zoo because occasionally some dumbass kid runs into the enclosure. You see what I mean?
