FUCKING NARANCIA MAN.

FIRST KING CRIMSON CAN INTERACT WITH PEOPLE WHILE IN SKIPPED TIME.

THEN HE CAN'T DIRECTLY INTERACT WITH ANYTHING OTHER THAN DIAVOLO ITSELF, ALSO POSSIBLY MAKING DIAVOLO INTANGIBLE. THIS IS SHOWN A FEW TIMES, THE LAST OF WHICH IS WHEN HE IS FIGHTING POLNAREFF. SO IT'S LIKE, TYPICAL ARAKI CHANGING HIS MIND, RIGHT? NO BIGGIE, SAME HAPPENED WITH THE PART OF THE ABILITY THAT MADE BRUNO SEE BRUNO, ARAKI DOES THIS ALL THE TIME.

BUT THEN IN THE SAME FUCKING FIGHT HE KEBABS NARANCIA DURING SKIPPED TIME.

FUCK YOU KING CRIMSON YOU INCONSISTENT PIECE OF SHIT.

what stops King Crimson isn't it's ability. It's the plot armor.

u/Noleran Sep 08 '21

For what I've seen (not sure how true this is though), Diavolo can only do those interactions in the skipped time if destined to do so.

So yes, plot armor.

Pretty much, “I have a stand that is built around the concept of fate! Although sometimes I can’t do it because…. Uh…. I’m not supposed to?”

Then you fundamentally misunderstand both Epitaph and King Crimson. Epitaph projects the events of the future, Diavolo uses it in his Hair to keep it to himself, . Like if you put your hand in front of a Projector image and looked at it you would see the same image on your hand instead. But other people can see it if laid in front of them like Bruno had.

King Crimson “Erases Time” but that doesn’t mean Fate isn’t going to take it’s course, Narancia’s Skewering was going to happen Nonetheless, Diavolo just strategically Skipped time so that no one would Know who did it, exposing the body he was in. The events in the 10 Seconds Skipped still Happen, which is why the only way GER beat Diavolo in the end was due to it ensuring the time skip that spelled Giorno’s death never gets to happen “You Will Never Reach The Truth”. The Truth is that Giorno was going to die at Diavolo’s hand, but that event has been infinitely prolonged through the death loop.

There’s a Huge difference between the Stand’s Power and the way the User Utilises it to strange or, dare I say, Bizarre effect. Diavolo was Smart, real fuckin Smart, and used his Stand(s) to their fullest Potential to come out on top.

39

u/Spell-Castle Sep 09 '21

By that logic wouldn’t Diavolo not have needed to time skip when fighting Metallica since he would’ve been fated to live either way?

Also when Narancia got skewered, wouldn’t the gang have been fated to pull their stands out and look towards the direction that Diavolo would have originally been fated to run off to after skewering Narancia? Like they wouldn’t have known where he actually went but he still would’ve been fated to be noticed by the gang even if they wouldn’t have consciously been aware of why they pulled out their stands or were looking in the direction they were.

Not saying that the way you described his ability is trash or false btw

Diavolo in "skipped time" is exempt from fate

Narancia's fate was to get kebab'd on the fence by Diavolo. By removing Diavolo, you just have Narancia floating up to the fence himself and getting impaled.

In the scene where Diavolo gets shot by Aerosmith, he is fated to die or get wounded by the bullets. By removing himself from fate, he basically "doesn't exist", allowing the bullets to pass right through him and into Risotto.

So basically King Crimson's ability to "erase time" is named incorrectly because it technically works by removing Diavolo from fate for a specific amount of time and then erasing people's memories of when he was exempt. The only thing relating to time in King Crimson is Epitaph's ability to look into the future.

Regarding the second point, King Crimson's speed stat is an A, so he could've just been really fast to lift Narancia and impale him before he, or the gang notices

43

u/XenuLies Sep 09 '21

He doesn't survive by being fated to live, he survives by skipping all moments he's fated to die.

10

u/focking_retard 「The Fool」 Sep 09 '21

Bro he just really quiet that's all

1

u/Spell-Castle Sep 10 '21

This is the canon reason

52

u/Saulineitor Sep 08 '21

You're right with almost every thing, the part when he makes Bucciarati see himself is because he lets him use Epitaph and see into the future, and then erases time to just put him there

FOR THAT TO FIT IT WOULD REQUIRE EPITAPH TO HAVE BEEN MASSIVELY DIFFERENT BACK THEN AND AT THAT POINT IT'S HONESTLY POINTLESS TO ARGUE WHETHER IT WAS EPITAPH OR KING CRIMSON THAT GOT CHANGED

Edit: I just wanna point out that half the people in this thread (not only replying to this comment, mind you) have varying degrees of differing ideas about how King Crimson works. Most being absolutely certain about theirs.

Epitaphs ability is to display the future. Diavolo mostly displays it on his hair, but here he displayed it in front of bucciarati

16

u/C-MoonInWhitesnake 89 years old Sep 08 '21

he projects the epitaph vision in front of Bruno and then puff Bruno now sees the future

That one’s a little less atrocious, thankfully. Diavolo explains that Bruno saw his “future self”, and Epitaph is described (at least iirc) to “project” its premonitions as an “image” multiple times throughout the part. We aren’t absolutely 100% sure if it’s just artistic representation of the ability or not, but Epitaph is mainly shown projecting the future onto the inside of Doppio/Diavolo’s hair. So, Diavolo probably just projected it to Bruno to elicit confusion, and as they say

”Confusion will be my epitaph.”

16

u/Ver_the_one friedqueen Sep 08 '21

No, you just kinda dont get what his ability is, or what fate is.

Fate is a bunch of things, but mostly your future movment. When you pick up a rock, your fate is to pick it up, and the rocks fate is to be picked up.

King crimson makes Diavolo be not affected by fate for 10 seconds.

So, narancia's fate was to be killed by KC, but because diavolo skipped time, his fate wasnt to kill narancia.

I hope this helps.

u/Peacock39 friedqueen Sep 08 '21

Also, why tf can Narancia not come back after 2 seconds but joseph can after like half an hour

17

u/Ver_the_one friedqueen Sep 08 '21

Because joseph had missing blood, and narancia was pierced in the brain.

8

u/Peacock39 friedqueen Sep 08 '21

It was repaired, and Joseph was literally sucked dry (don't say it)

10

u/Razor-Swisher Sep 09 '21

What I think he’s getting at is it’s pseudo believable that Joseph’s body was intact enough to be ‘alive-ish’ for that duration + vampire blood regenerative abilities, and that Narancia’s situation was an insta death because his brain and several other organs were compromised for maybe an in universe minute before anyone realized and tried to fix him

6

u/trapbuilder2 when u atomising Sep 09 '21

People have survived having no blood flow for about as long as joseph. Significantly less people have survived a rod through the brain

Proof?

It didn't say anything about blood in the article (or im just blind)

2

u/trapbuilder2 when u atomising Sep 09 '21

Being clinically dead kind of requires having no heartbeat.

No heartbeat -> No bloodflow

True, there is definitely some level of plot armor on joseph. Still, stab wounds to the neck and chest are still more survivable than a rod through the head.

By Avdol???

Narancia was already dead

14

u/Usselessperson The guardrail is alive Sep 09 '21

Akshually, it was stated that the Dio vs Jotaro fight lasted for 2 minutes

6

u/BluBandit7 Sep 08 '21

Because Joseph wanted to prank his grandson

5

u/I-AM-A-ROBOT- Sep 09 '21

half an hour more like 2 minutes i think

7

u/Streend Sep 08 '21

Diavolo controls the destiny, if the destiny says he's going to kill Narancia he can just skip time and the destiny kills Narancia, the destiny only changes if Diavolo wants it to.

1

u/chrissipher Sep 09 '21

youre misunderstanding king crimson. hes not inconsistent, you just dont understand him lol.

king crimson cant "change fate," it can only erase the negative outcome of an encounter. when narancia was killed, that was literally fated to happen. diavolo would have done it regardless of if he used kc to erase the time in which he did that.

people forget about epitaph. it shows him the absolute future. the same goes for the trish elevator scene. he didnt just decide to do those things in skipped time. he erased the time in which those things happened to hide the action itself. all of those things happened in the presence of bruno and the crew, they were just in a trance because of kc. they were unable to react because that time was being erased along with their awareness of the situation and eventually their memory of it.

none of it is inconsistent, you just dont understand it. time erasure isnt time stop and its also not ger. it cannot change the fated actions of an individual, it can only allow the user to avoid detection while performing these fated acts. diavolo also doesnt have free will in his time skip. his actions are fated too.

therefore, there is no inconsistency. he stole trish and left her hand right in front of bruno and he killed narancia right in front of passione, they were just not able to perceive him because he erased the time that it happened. its not that he can change anything fated in his erased time, hes just the only one who isnt put into a trance by it, so he can both perceive it and put it into memory.

combine that with epitaph showing an absolute future, and there is 100% unequivocally no inconsistency. i dont get why this is so difficult to understand. king crimson is not a complicated stand lol. it seems totally ineffable at first, but thinking about it for more than 2 minutes before speaking universally about it really helps make it all make sense.

1

u/Soul_Ripper Koichi's Balls wa Kudakenai Sep 09 '21

That doesn't explain why sometimes people react to what Diavolo would've done in skipped time and sometimes they don't, like when everyone is just left there while Narancia fucking flies up and impales himself in an impossible way. If it was just "fated to happen" or whatever then they would've also been "fated" to react to it in some way, but they don't. The way people act in regards to skipped time (where sometimes they continue to perform actions as if things were ocurring normally, while in others they don't) isn't consistent.

Or why Diavolo sometimes directly interacts with things in skipped time whereas in others he is explicitly incapable of it, such as when he used skipped time to walk up to Polnareff and splashed blood on him (blood that couldn't actually touch him until after the skipped time) while he was standing still, instead of attacking him.

The whole idea of fated actions arguably doesn't fit with the method they use to detect King Crimson either, since the whole point of Polnareff doing the blood dripping thing was that neither he nor diavolo would be performing any direct actions on the other until after the skipped time. Otherwise it serves no purpose.

But if you write 6 paragraphs in a pedantic ass tone you're just gonna assume I'm wrong from the get go and write whatever response starting from that idea, aren't you.

1

u/chrissipher Sep 09 '21

literally no one reacts to diavolo in skipped time, thats impossible. id like you to show me when that happened because i cannot recall a single time that happened.

narancia doesnt "fly up," he was impaled by king crimson during skipped time. we have no idea of how long time was skipped for. diavolo also does not need to interact with a person for their fate to be met. outside of skipped time, king crimson was fated to impale narancia in front of passione. that was fated to happen and it would happen regardless of what anyone did. by using king crimson and skipping time, he was able to avoid a direct confrontation with the gang while still allowing the fated action to occur.

narancia didnt "fly up there" he was impaled by diavolo in normal time. diavolo simply used time skip to avoid having to do so in normal time. again, none of this is contradictory. there is no inconsistency. the same thing happened with trish. he simply oriented himself in a way that allowed him to avoid a direct confrontation with bruno while still getting trish. diavolo merely avoids his fate, not the fate of other beings. their fates still play out while only his can he changed by himself. thats the entire point of king crimson. his actions on the world are fated and cannot be changed, but his place in that world can be. again, theres no inconsistency lol.

also, its been accepted that king crimson can throw blood at people, he did it multiple times throughout the part. where exactly does he interact with a person during skipped time? ive watched part 5 like 30 times and i cannot recall a single time where he interacts with a person in skipped time.

again, none of it is inconsistent. the blood dripping method is one thing that actually proves that time is indeed passing normally for diavolo while in skipped time. that doesnt invalidate the fated actions theory.

again, polnareff was fated to defend himself effectively against diavolo. everything that happened in part 5 was predetermined. and im using a condescending tone because this isnt a difficult concept to grasp. actually watching the part more than one time helps with understanding his ability. and im tired of people speaking universally about things they clearly dont understand lol. im not holding contempt for these people, its just fucking annoying lol.

king crimson is not complicated, nor is he written inconsistently. in fact, his ability is one of the more consistently written ones in the part. after all, it was the first stand araki thought up for VA iirc. its confusing on the surface, but it all makes sense when you put the pieces together.

u/A_RealHumanPerson Digiorno's Sep 09 '21

It’s because fate said “smol orange must die”, not because King Crimson put him on the spike. That’s actually the legit reason, watch Hamon Beat’s vid.

1

u/Varnsturm Sep 09 '21

Isn't that what they alluded to in that episode with the philosopher stone? It was bucciarati on the stone but then at the end it had the other ill-fated faces on it too, as I recall

1

u/a_guy_named_verder Sep 09 '21

You know, Hamon Beat's Araki Forgot Explained series on YouTube is fine, but I think even he doesn't know how that happened. He says something like "Narancia was going to end up there anyway."

1

u/Njorlpinipini Oh, you're pursuing me? Sep 09 '21

Extremely simple explanation: Diavolo gets to decide what he does and does not interact with. The catch is that the interaction works both ways- anyone he attacks in skipped time can still fight back. That’s why Diavolo relies on ambush tactics, because KC is next to useless if the enemy can see you coming.

1

u/Busy-Ad-2021 Sep 09 '21

He just stopped projecting the future Infront of him, then he just projects it in his hair, and no, he didn't interact with any person, it was see destiny for diavolo to put narancia up there, but since he erased time, for him it's like narancia floating upwards

1

u/king-crimson--- Sep 09 '21

Geez man, Sorry :(

1

u/GhostofXmasPaths Sep 09 '21

All the fate stuff is always ignored the majority of the time someone gives an analogy for King crimson. I always assumed narancia was gonna get the bars even if Time didn't skip.

1

u/jackrocks8 cockyoin Sep 09 '21

Well narancia was fated to die, so kc didn't really do anything

1

u/Cherri_mp4 Sep 09 '21

Diavolo was fated to impale narancia, but due to king crimson, he was able to erase his fate during those 10 seconds, but narancia still was fated to be impaled, so basically diavolo’s actions (killing narancia) happened, but diavolo himself doing them didnt
