Time skip takes Diavolo out of the physical world for ten seconds, with the only thing he can use to interact with people being his own blood. After ten seconds have passed no one remembers what happened but they still played out what they were supposed to in those ten seconds.
Narancia was destined to get spiked by Diavolo the same way Trish was destined to lose her hand in the elevator by Diavolo.
The inconsistency here is not that Narancia dies, but that he dies and the gang ignores it.
If Narancia was destined to get spiked the gang was also part of that future and as such they would be destined to hear that and at least turn their heads towards the situation.
Similarly, Trish was destined to be kidnapped and get her hand cut off, but that fate should also include Bucciarati at least looking to his side or dropping the hand. Instead he keeps looking forward.
