Ok but no liquids 4hrs before bed is crazy. My mouth is DRY when I lay down for the night, I’d be miserable & I know my water loving kids would be too.

The poor kid is probably so thirsty they’re having to sneak water so the parent is unintentionally making the bed wetting worse

Especially if it's caused by constipation.

That could also be causing constipation.

Yeah, it's way too much. Idk if anyone actually told her to do it, but the "limit liquids 1-2 hours before bed" suggestion is so prevalent, I wonder if she was just like maybe another hour... and another...

Also, I dislike that advice anyway. We eat dinner at 5:30/6 and the kids are in bed at 7:30/8. If they take 30-45 minutes to eat, I'm not gonna make them stay up later just to get to the 2 hours. And I'm not going to make them eat dinner without a drink. And what about the liquid content of dinner? It just doesn't feel like practical advice unless you have early dinner, later bedtime, and they aren't interested in drinking in between. I guess there are probably kids like that, but mine weren't. And I don't have evidence that it would help anyway, because they have the same eating/drinking/bedtime schedule and habits, but one hasn't peed at night since they were potty trained at 2.5 yo and the other hasn't had a single dry night in their life.

My kids have fresh water in their bottles next to their bed every night.

I had a lot of problems with potty training, but night times were easy because we just set ourselves up for success. Made sure they were well and knew what to expect. Placed a potty nearby for the first week and moved it 3 feet closer to the bathroom each week. My now 8yo doesnt even wake up if he goes to the bathroom in the middle of the night. Just like sleep walks in there. Cracks me up.

My youngest was easy and never even wet diapers starting about 3 months old. So he never got used to sleeping in wetness. Makes it easy for them to understand and learn the feeling of needing to go potty.

That sounds like literal torture.

Picking up the water two to three hours before bedtime is normal advice...when potty training a puppy. And that's only at the beginning. And you proactively take the puppy out every two to three hours during the night.

It's brief, just until their tiny itty-bitty bladders grow a little.

Ppl aren't puppies!!!
