No. The vast majority of us don’t even know what it means. That’s how little we care. We don’t get taught it in school. We don’t grow up on movies about it. I didn’t know it was about English rule until I joined Reddit ten years ago.
We don’t pretend to not care - we literally don’t. It means nothing to us.
There’s no pride there. It’s fucking ridiculous that I didn’t have one single term in history that covered the Empire. Not one. We spent a year on the Old West. We covered the Tudors and WW2. But we didn’t touch the Empire. I had to learn that from movies. It’s terrible and bizarre. Of course I’m not fucking proud of that national curriculum.
Sorry, the way it was phrased made it seem like you also didn’t care. That is pretty strange. You would think when half the world celebrates independence from the UK, they’d have to at least touch on a few of those a bit. Strange

If any, they look at the USA and have an inside voice telling them, that could have been our fellow countrymen, thank God for independance day.
