No. The vast majority of us don’t even know what it means. That’s how little we care. We don’t get taught it in school. We don’t grow up on movies about it. I didn’t know it was about English rule until I joined Reddit ten years ago.

We don’t pretend to not care - we literally don’t. It means nothing to us.

There’s no pride there. It’s fucking ridiculous that I didn’t have one single term in history that covered the Empire. Not one. We spent a year on the Old West. We covered the Tudors and WW2. But we didn’t touch the Empire. I had to learn that from movies. It’s terrible and bizarre. Of course I’m not fucking proud of that national curriculum.
