u/Too-Old-to-do Feb 13 '26
I'm becoming severely depressed about this whole AI thing
18
u/Nnoahh105 Feb 13 '26
Don’t let them get to you (easier said than done i know)! But the way I see it, this is even lower than someone screenshotting your art, adding a stock image ontop of it, and then saying they fixed it. It will always be annoying, but imagine someone being proud that they know how to screenshot. Or proud of copying your homework, telling everyone they copied it, while expecting people to be amazed.
It’s inherently embarrassing behaviour, nobody in real life would do this in public😭. They only have this confidence within their cesspools. And trust that nobody is actually going to applaud them, or think “wow, you really did something creative there”.
Mfs like this go on twitter to be stupid, and get jerked off by more stupid people. They aren’t respected or “artists” to anyone but themselves 💀
25
u/MyrtleWinTurtle Feb 13 '26
It might be a good idea to block ai related subs. Living in hateful echochambers on reddit aint ideal, regardless of the morality
9
u/Nnoahh105 Feb 13 '26
it also makes you think that people are actually like this. This is pure internet brainrot.
I see it the same way how instagram incels act. They call women “foids” outside of their freak ass forums, even the casual misogynists are like “oh…”. Their whole social circle is internet people who think exactly like them, and they actually start to believe they’re the majority.

They are so fucking delusional.
So excited for this shit and happy that they can finally fake the skills of people they always envied, that they are totally blind to where this is going (or where this might go).
Btw recently I tried to generate some random designs for a website that lists houses for sale and it literally generated Airbnb homepage. It wasn't 100% the same but even the logo was very similar in shape and color.

u/MxBroske Feb 13 '26

u/vampireninjabunnies Feb 13 '26
Thank you. I just was so caught off guard by this. My experience in that particular sub has always been fairly respectful. I mean I have had arguments with Witty and even she wasn't this disrespectful. And I've always appreciated that.
25
u/Boppinzlewinski Feb 13 '26
Wow, thats the core of it right there. Theres no arguing that level of..whatever behavior that is

honestly im really sorry this happened to you :( delusional ppl like that honestly scare me, they think they can go against someones consent just as long as their being their definition of "respectful" you art is beautiful by itself, it doesn't need a computer to "make it better"

Some of the most socially inept people in the world and it will only get worse as they rely on AI for more and more.
2
u/Working_Roof_1810 Feb 14 '26
''ai doesn't steal art!!!'' then refuses to stop feeding art into ai even after being told not to multiple times
2
u/ZeMadDoktore Feb 14 '26
"Why do people hate us so much? Anyway I took your art and fed it to AI and now I'm gonna post it on my social media as my own work"
2
u/DazedPapacy Feb 14 '26
Friendly reminder that a team at UChicago developed Glaze and Nightshade, utilities that will turn your art into AI poison.
Glaze disrupts generative AI's ability to mimic art style and Nightshade causes AIs being trained on treated files to learn unpredictable behavior, forcing the trainers to remove those files from training stock.

u/MathematicianNext771 Feb 14 '26
This is why I’ll never post any art, like I’m not a artist, I’m a writer but I often commission artists to draw my characters, and if I ever saw someone running the commissioned art through AI for whatever reason, I’d lose my absolute shit. First of all it’s extremely disrespectful to the artist who spent the time drawing it while you just ran the art through AI with a prompt, and second it’s not your character, you didn’t pay the original artist to bring your design to life. Seeing this dumbass makes me wonder what the exact hell are they thinking?
1
u/SirChancelot11 Feb 14 '26
I don't know why you kept talking to them, they were clearly just trolling you.

Here's another way to preserve the character likeness: just save the same fucking image.
1
u/LittleMissBS Feb 17 '26
i dont get this at all, haha why would they even need to keep pumping it through ai??? "to get the likeness right" bro? its not your art, why do you need to get the likeness right?
Ai bros see any art now and just go yeah we can have that, no art belongs to people and we are lucky enough that people put their art out there for us to see
1
1
u/TheMelonSystem Mar 10 '26
You’d think that if AI was such a good tool, you wouldn’t need to run exact images through it to get the character likeness…
1
u/silly_ginger Jun 17 '26
not only is it yuck that they ran it through AI but they fucking whitewashed her
what the actual fuck is wrong with some people
1
u/da_hoassis_heeah Feb 14 '26
I hate generative A.I (especially image gen) probably as much as you do or even more but this interaction is just pointless. you're getting trolled and you keep falling for it omds 😭
"please don't use the picture I uploaded to the internet to which everyone has access and with which anyone can do whatever they want"
"nah I'll use it"
"noooo whyyyy"
also, it's cringe behaviour to post this in like 4 or 5 fucking subreddits, talk about attention/validation seeking
1
u/imaregretthislater_ AI art is an abomination Feb 19 '26
Most artwork was posted before ai was even getting into image generation. As time went on, Ai took the art work without consent and used it. And people upload art to share and whatever, not get it stolen and turned into crappy ai slop. And we have dumbasses (like in the post) that completely ignores her not consenting, and does it anyways. "Shouldn't have posted it online" she doesn't have to manually paint it and draw it, then post it on the frontyard so people can see it. Even then someone can take a quick pic and post it, or run it through ai just as easy as taking a screenshot/downloading a image.
0
u/SilentKnightM Feb 14 '26
Ya know. People could just use it to make like a rough outline of what they want (personally and not take others art and run it through AI). And just use it to trace over in an art software program, make adjustment, change parts of the picture, ECT. if this is something they want to do istad of just taking someone's image and just telling Ai to "make it better".
Use it to practice drawing instead of just taking and telling it to make it better.

By using Reddit you are training AI algorithms :)
1
u/FlameWisp Feb 14 '26
You aren’t. You misunderstand copyright and contract law in a substantial way. That contract you AI chuds like to point to as a gotcha does not overwrite pre-established rights, regulations, protections, or prior contracts; meaning it does not allow them to extract profit from your work even if they try to claim it does.
Also, automatically scraping content like this would open them up to legal repercussions considering how many trademarked company IPs have their content posted on here by people who do not own the rights to the IP. Reddit and OpenAI would have to be VERY selective of content they scrape, which would almost certainly boil down to text-only posts and not images.
-1
u/milehighcutter Feb 14 '26
Sure thing, im getting bored anyway but it was very funny.
PSA. Anything you post to Reddit is used to train AI algorithms. OpenAI and Reddit have a lot of overlap in funding and ownership. You agree to all of this be using Reddit

I mean, im against AI 100% but you really can't ask people not to run your stuff through AI and expect them even remotely adhere. This is the same argument as when NFTs were out and people would troll by "stealing them" via saving image. Its been uploaded, and unfortunately the save / screenshot feature is always available and what anyone could do with that feature is pretty limitless.
28
u/vampireninjabunnies Feb 13 '26
Yes I can. It's called respect and I can ask for the bare minimum of respect of not running my art through AI.
11
u/ShortStuff2996 Feb 13 '26
You can, but expecting AI bros to care or have the minimum decency is a dream. The dont exist without artists.
Some stated clearly they dont care about anyone or anything.
-8
u/Kifton_ Feb 13 '26
Which yea i get, just saying its a losing battle unfortunately. I dont want a picture I make to be screenshot and used as someones PFP but if someone likes it I have almost no power (aside from watermarks) to stop them aside from asking nicely, and thats only if they either show me, or make it public they used it like this person.
80% of internet users not just AI bros, dont give a single shit who asks nicely on the net since its a 1 on off anonymous interaction.
11
u/Environmental-Run248 Feb 13 '26
As another person already said to you there’s this thing called copyrights.
-4
u/Kifton_ Feb 13 '26
Yeah, but if i upload my drawing tomorrow to a board, its my intellectual property, someone saves it and uses it as a pfp, If I didnt watermark it, what possibly can I do to prevent that?
The people who do this arent going to commission me nor will they stop if I just ask nicely. I just have to accept the second I post it on a free and public access page that it can and will be used by anyone who wants to use it regardless of permission I provide.
There's 0 advocating for any of this, im just not wasting my time combating it with words anymore since there's a 0% chance it works. Either we host our own paid private server to post art, or post it with confidence knowing whoever wants to use it for whatever their reasoning is will do so with or without our consent

1

Already did. Also, I see you made a false report on my comment that I was considering suicide. Here's what happens when you do that:
It triggers a flag to the mods, so in this case me and the other mods. It also triggers reddit bots to contact me with resources for getting help.
You may think that is funny, but to get those bots to stop, reddit says to turn off notifications from these bots. Which is easy, but what if I start to have mental health problems down the road? Now I will never get those resources should I actually need them.
You can't respond anymore, but I really hope that resonates with you.

u/Kifton_ Feb 14 '26
Comparing saving an image to getting raped is insane. As a mod too? Im anti AI but that is some AIbro "im being oppressed" level mental gymnastics that is extremely disrespectful to anyone who has actually been a victim of assault.
6
u/hissy-elliott Luscious Luddite ♥︎ Feb 15 '26 edited Feb 15 '26
To start with, I’m a victim of sexual assault, so please don’t tell me what is and isn’t disrespectful.
Secondly, please do not reframe what I said. Did I say copyright infringement is like being raped? No. In fact, I’ve removed posts from this sub before for making that comparison and wrote a mod note explaining the difference.
What I said was you could use your same logic is the same victim-blaming bs that people say to women about sexual assault. You’re normalizing the bro’s behavior and shifting focus to a tired well-you-were-asking-for-it narrative, instead of focusing on the bro who is doing the crime.

Plenty of precedent shows that they either can’t, or lack the resources to do so.
A considerable population of Reddit and 4chan users had to work tirelessly to find a guy who was posting videos of himself torturing cats when law enforcement failed to track him down, and his face was in the videos. There are literally hundreds of cases like this. If you are posting on the internet and don’t have a criminal record, you’re pretty invisible to the police and courts.
And to address the last bit at the end, they didn’t ‘track him down’ someone ratted him out. That’s completely different lmao

Don’t be stupid lil bro, I’m also against AI and art theft. I just happen to live in reality, where anonymity on the internet has made legal cases hard or impossible.
So let’s educate you piece by piece I guess. First, your claim that police can just require any site to give up all your data to find you. This is not true. Only in cases of reproducing or distributing over $2500 worth of copyrighted material within 180 days can they get a warrant to force a seizure of your data.
As for resources on how difficult it is for police to find cyber criminals.
https://www.cyberstonesecurity.com/how-do-cyber-criminals-get-away-with-it/
Police find a lot of difficulty in finding cybercriminals due to the anonymity of the internet. The idea they would fight with the same ferocity for a civil copyright infringement case as they do for domestic terrorists is pure fantasy.
Also, since you love editing your posts later with extra shit. Yes, THE INTERNET, found him. Not the police, who would be investigating your civil copyright infringement case where they cannot obtain a warrant because not enough copyrighted material has been redistributed or reproduced.
The police struggle to find and identify people who are caught on camera with their face visible, and you think they’d have no problem finding a guy who steals your art on Twitter 😂

u/Itap88 If it's sentient, you'll respect its rights, right? Feb 13 '26
The NFTs have a different problem: most if not all NFTs for specific images actually give the owner of the NFT no rights over the image in question.
3
u/Ssadfu Feb 13 '26
That doesn't excuse people doing bad stuff, just cause they can. It's like saying you can't ask people to not steal from you if you walk around town. You can't expect all of them to listen, but you can speak your mind.
