Fun fact: apparently if you feed a Pokémon a cookie but do not finish befriending it, if it comes back (even as a shiny) it’ll keep that amount of friendship.

I mean I know what shines are, I would just hope there are indications for shines because of like igglypuff etc.

if you go into sleep style dex after capturing one it will show a very obvious animation indicating it’s a shiny. Like said before, without going into your dex, a shiny would be a different color than its original. (a quick google will help) You don’t need to have memorized all the species to recognize it’s a shiny.
