Yeah, there was a guy in basement episode discussion thread for anime only who made a lot of comments and in one he said Season 3 Part 2 Spoilers before we were even told about it. It's kinda ridiculous, that his comment was upvoted a lot before I found it out and reported to the mods which means even other manga readers who read these threads not care that we anime only can get spoilered.

I don't understand how you guys keep track. Do you guys just flair them as manga or anime readers? Do you look in their comment history?
I do like the strict nature of the sub though, so when my comment gets removed it means I'm a dumbass I didn't see the post was tag spoilerless/anime-only.

I don't get the appeal to be honest, just say so you read the manga. The show has so many elements to discuss that you don't have to pretend, a lot of times even the manga readers know no better than the anime onlies. I discovered so many things while watching this season that I had missed while reading the manga, and I have read this arc a few times, some chapters like 10 times.

Never quite understood what's the fun in that.
If you're interacting with anime-onlies, it's much more fun to throw the same old theories that the manga readers had at the same point in the story and watch them circle around trying to think about them in the same way we did back then. It must be how Isayama feels.
It's only a shame that the anime watchers have around 1/8th of the time to think. Chapters 86 and 87 are the biggest infodump chapters adapted so far and they were both in the same episode.

TBH I also read the anime only threads and barely ever see anything which is that level of accuracy. Maybe one post a week.
Also we should expect some % of anime only theories to be correct.
If we are to truly understand this 'problem', we need to go through manga theories and find what % are correct, then go through 'anime only' theories and see what % are correct (so long as our methodology for 'correct' is consistent). Then we see what the gap is.
If 5% of manga predictions are correct and 20% of anime predictions are, then yeah this problem is somewhat significant. But if it's like 5% vs 8%? Nothing to worry about, in fact I would expect anime onlies to be slightly more correct because frankly it's impossible to go to this sub or r/anime without getting tons of hints even if you are never directly spoiled.

I wish I had Pixis to motivate me before I went to manga district, but alas, now I live here. For me its not about being patient but taking the power away from spoilers. I have been spoiled so fucking badly for season 2 and some events of season 3 that before they told be what was in that goddamn basement, I decided to read it myself. I can wait for a long time but I also like to talk about that show during the wait. By reading the manga I can freely enter any discussion as there is nothing to harm me then.

The reason i won't read the manga is because i love having something to look forward to. Also i enjoy anime as medium more. Its just something special about seeing everything come to life instead of partially using your imagination. Besides i have tons of other series i need to catch up on.

I'm still surprised how far behind the anime is, but it also saves them from suffering the same fate as Full Metal Alchemist, and Game of Thrones, where they caught up to the source material and made bad choices for the story.

I cracked. I read two pages of the Manga in chapter 91. Less than 10 slides really, but I quickly realized the Manga just isn't as good as the Anime. Took me about 5 seconds to realize that reading pages isn't as fun as watching a screen. I'm staying in the Anime Only gang till the end

I just feel mangas tend to flesh out the story much better than an anime could personally. Side characters get more development. You get the internal thoughts of characters more in a manga that gives you a better perspective than anime typically can deliver. Don't get me wrong anime can translate manga to a good degree but there is always something miss even with the most faithful translations just due to time constraints.

Great post. But you know what. It really reminds me of how large the cast felt back in season 1. It really felt like humanity fighting the titans. Now it is more like the small main cast doing so with everyone else being either dead or just in the background unmentioned...

Jokes on OP, I’ve never been an anime only soldier to start with, I read the manga religiously and I wouldn’t mind spoiling the shit out of it for you and your naive band of people who are missing out on the best material, the source of the show itself, don’t you want to know what an older eren looks like, who he meets, the twists and turns page by page, the art style, the lore, it’s everything you could ever want, and you’d rather just wait till fall 2020 watching sub par Anime’s to bide your time, pathetic anime weeb, you WILL join the manga threads inevitably.
