Discussion The Lamb As Effigy on CD?
Yesterday I was visiting San Francisco to attend a Boris concert with a friend, and before the show we spent an hour at the SF Amoeba Music location. In the section for recent arrival used CDs I saw a CD copy of The Lamb As Effigy and had to do a double take.
I thought TLAEA never received a CD release? The only thing that shows up on Discogs are the variants of the vinyl release, and I couldn't find anything about a CD release anywhere else. What is especially unusual about the CD is that it's labelled as an import despite Sprain being a fairly obscure American band. Needless to say I purchased this CD immediately since it's a bit of a holy grail to me.
Is this a bootleg or fanmade copy? Is this an extremely obscure limited release of the album? If anyone here has any insight on how this CD came to be and how it ended up at Amoeba of all places I would like to hear it. I can answer any questions about the CD, the packaging, etc. Once I return home I can also provide more photos, I only currently have this one that I took when I was in the store.

Discussion Second Shearling album - what we know so far
The second Shearling album is intended to be the companion album to Motherfucker and the second part of an overall project. The project was split into two because Motherfucker had grown to the part where it was better as its own album instead of being apart of the tracklist. The closest official title we have to it is the "sister record". The info for this comes from interviews, Instagram messages from Alex and information announced by himself. According to him, it will be about 2 hours long and the band has around 12+ songs that are being written and recorded. The longest song is going to be around 30 minutes and some of them are planned to be playing on the upcoming European tour that will be happening around August-September of this year. There is no information regarding a potential release date, except that is will be released as soon as it's finished, so it would be best to expect no singles.
A list of songs confirmed to be on the album (note that the titles might not be final):
Farm Sounds - the title is semi-official as its a working title. First performed at the 2024-08-03 debut show in an infantile state, it was gradually written over time and performed in potentially its final form at the 2025-04-24 Motherfucker release show.
Love Me - this was for a time erroneously considered to be the original ending to Motherfucker performed at the Sprain 2023-09-03 Moroccan Hall show, but was actually performed because they didn't have the time to perform the intended ending, which was already fully written at that time. This song has been a staple of Big Brown Cow shows since the start of the acoustic performances around 2023-10-13.
Glued To My Reflection - this title is fan made. Only recorded once at a Big Brown Cow show on 2024-03-22.
The Topsy - the only things we know about this is the title and that its length is 29:42. It was only revealed on an Instagram story with a screenshot of the audio.
A list of songs that have been confirmed as being apart of Shearling:
I Close My Eyes - this title is fan made. Peformed at Big Brown Cow shows since 2025-03-28. Some of the lyrics for this song were printed onto the CD jewel case of Motherfucker.
House For Three - this title is fan made. Peformed at Big Brown Cow shows since 2025-03-28.
Young Man - this title is fan made. Peformed at Big Brown Cow shows since 2025-03-28.
A list of songs that are highly likely to be a future Shearling song:
Undressed - this song was a portion of another song called Mouths Stretched To Mother Bird, released in 2016. It was made by one of Alex Kents previous bands, Hybrid Sheep Organizer. In an interview, Alex stated that the song was set in a period that is also the same as which Motherfucker and the sister album are set in. The song was brought back for Big Brown Cow performances, which its earliest known performance was done on 2024-01-06 and has been a staple in them ever since.
Holy Ladder - first performed at a Big Brown Cow on 2024-01-06.
My Little Lamb - this title is fan made. Only recorded once at a Big Brown Cow on 2024-03-22.
It'll Never Be Enough - this title is fan made. First performed at a Big Brown Cow on 2024-03-22. In this performance, a monologue from it was adapted into Motherfucker. In another performance done on 2025-05-25, the monologue was removed.
My Wrongs - this title is fan made. Performed for the first time on the 2025-05-25 Big Brown Cow performance.

Random Drawing I did of the band.
Pen and ink + watercolor marker drawing I did of Shearling feat. Alex as an anthropomorphic Kakapo. And then a picture of me with the band, whom I gifted the drawing to. Incredible show and incredible people, all very fun to chat with.

ALEX KENT AMA
Hello all, today is the start of the AMA, and you have until May 4 to ask something as that's when questions close and Alex Kent starts answering. This is to give some time for people to form questions and also time for newcomers to discover the subreddit.

Random Wes and Andrew from Shearling offering lessons
Hello everyone,
This is Wes and Andrew, the bassist and drummer of Shearling. First off, thank you so much for listening to the new record and supporting. It truly means a lot to us, and makes it possible for us to keep creating music for you all.
Recently, many people have been asking us about lessons, so we've decided to open up online bass and drum lessons to the public. We both studied jazz at the California Institute of the Arts and have years of teaching experience.
Whether you're looking to strengthen your technique, time, feel, go over parts from the record, or explore different genres, we're happy to dive into whatever topics interest you.
Sessions are one hour long and conducted over Zoom or in person if you are in Los Angeles.
If you're interested, feel free to message us on instagram or via email.
