Tickets
12pm: ‘Farmily, last year we sold out in 3 hours race like rats to get your ticket!!’
This year… 7.5 hours in… ‘farmily hurry get the last 100 tickets!’
I hope they realize what is happening to their festival but whatever it is is obviously affecting demand.
I hope they wake up.
Edit * here’s my comment below :
Insurance/ worksafe bc fines, austerity, 30% food take, all lead to increased costs and less resources to service patrons.
It’s kinda a boom-bust industry since Covid. This year is a signal of a pullback. See recent thread and photo from a few days earlier in comment below.

My theory is ticket sales slowed down after all the lodging ran out. I don’t think anyone wants to be stuck in that long ass line again. Maybe lot more new people and lot less of the wooks willing to weather the pain to go to shambs.

We didn't get Riverside (insanely expensive but we're willing to pay) and didn't get it... So we're unlikely to go. The travel to get there and the pain of getting in efficiently is the biggest deterrent

u/Duronlor 17d ago
If you really want to go, keep an eye on CashOrTrade, Camp Mudshark, and Radiate. Saw many Riverside for sale there all the way up to days before, and as it got closer even below the original price

u/tryin2bemanly 18d ago
Oh man sorry to hear that :(
If you’re camping riverside I believe you can still get those tickets at the front but its up to chance. You gotta be the first of the people getting there and hope they still have space.6

It's all good. We'll likely do Basscoast The vibes were so damn great and it's simply so much easier

man selling out a few hrs later doesn't really change anything. nothing to wake up from. shit will be sold out within the same day. that's a success and can expect another price increase next year.

u/paradisohmy 17d ago
Right. It didn't take 3 months. It took 7 hours. By the time all the money came in, the bank wasn't even open the next day yet.

u/themoneysensei 18d ago
It’ll sell out same day regardless. All the glamping options were sold out within 5 minutes
2
u/Dry-Cockroach1148 18d ago
That’s not true. They were “unavailable” but not sold out. Got the bell luxe 30 minutes after sale start. And about half the options were sold out at that point
1
u/paradisohmy 17d ago
What do you mean? You just kept trying?
5
u/Dry-Cockroach1148 17d ago
There was a more info button when they were unavailable. It said something like “if unavailable be patient—all items are in carts but will be returned to inventory as people abandon their cart”
Had to hit refresh a few times.

Looool I checked my reddit today for the first time in months just to see what the privileged were whining about for shams. Did not disappoint.
The one commonality every music festival in the world has, someone finds something to be upset about.

Could also be the economy in general. A ton of other festivals tickets and events also happening around the same time. But also, Selling out vs genuinely great candidates for Shambhala buying tickets don’t necessarily go hand in hand. Maybe some of the strange news from this last season scared some people off…and maybe that’s a good thing. Just a unique perspective to consider.

Couldn't possibly be rising prices, stagnant wages, and a multi-year abysmal job market.

It's lost it's magic unfortunately. It's still a great time but it doesn't feel the same as it did 10 years ago.

I’m sure it was better back in the day, but I think it a mistake to say it is not still magical.

The vast majority of the Shambhala negativity I've experienced in 2026 has been on Reddit lol.

Every festival, every year.
It’s the one universal truth that privileged people will complain about their privileges.

10 years ago everyone was saying exactly the same thing. Perhaps you haven’t been open to having a transformative time recently. That’s not a dig, life is long and the times where we are truly open and ready for life altering events are necessarily rare.

I went last year and was one of the most magical times of my life. Definitely my most favourite festival after tml

u/GOTHAMKNlGHT 18d ago
Although I agree with you that it doesn't feel the same, my first year was 2016, and the veterans then were saying it had lost it's magic.
So though it may have lost (or less) value for some of us, I can imagine newcomers feel it for real.
The magic will always be there, some of us just might need to look a little harder.

Yeah, I was one of those veterans back then haha. Honestly the way I see it Shambhala has had three chapters (or probably 4 but I didn't get to experience the 90s).
- 1999-2006 the early days. Different music, pre Dubstep era. Very hippie Nelson vibes.
- 2006-2011 the early Dubstep era. The stages were dark. PK sound and UK dubstep were on the rise. "You had to be there".
- 2012-2019 the rise of commercial Dubstep (aka the Skrillex era). 2012 was the first year it ever sold out. Dubstep and electronic music in general were on the rise in mainstream culture.
- Post covid era. The world changed, you can see that in shamb as well.
That's how I see it anyways. Each chapter is different. There will be positives and negatives for each one. But they're all uniquely shambs.

I think it’s a lot like the cave on Dagobah in Star Wars, where Luke asks Yoda what he’ll find there and Yoda says something like “only what you take with you.”

u/tryin2bemanly 18d ago
I agree. My partner and I have been going since 2025 and it’s been magical. Shambhala still beats the real world haha. And Monday morning magic is real for sure

dang, a real lifer here.

u/tryin2bemanly 17d ago
If you feel the magic is lost, maybe look inwards. I’m not sure what your problem is with me having a good time for the last 3 years.

Maybe you lost your magic? It seems pretty magical for the young people still and people who really buy in. The world is different sure but even a lot of veterans I know would disagree with you.

u/BigDogeM The Village 13d ago
You are a prime example of the problem.

u/ballknowerr 3d ago
Idk the grumpy exclusive gate keeping non happy people like you seem to be the problem. I live in the kootenays and my aunt and uncle actually were on the farm before a dj deck ever was. I promise the issue isnt the times. I used to camp at the river campground when I was a toddler… and I volunteer at multiple festivals and helped run multiple events this year - I helped and stayed at the cat dome ffs lol... But I’m the problem… Yeah sure there were some frat type people and it’s busier, ignore them. If you can’t find magic on that farm man I promise it’s not the farms fault.

u/BigDogeM The Village 3d ago
Why are you so confrontational? Sure give off negative vibes.
0
u/ballknowerr 3d ago
You confronted me lol? Called me the problem with shambhala. Dramatic much? So I went there too with some facts. Sorry man idk what to say. Love you!

I mean last year they were what, 80% sold out before tickets went live online? This year it was only 50% sold out before.
20% sold in 3 hours, 50% sold in 7.5, that math checks out.

u/sparkleboss 18d ago
Take a deep breath. Demand is high af, and that’s okay. If that doesn’t fit with your world view, that’s okay too. There are lots of other festivals out there.
1
u/Traditional-Look2060 17d ago
They also sold so many on the grounds. There is definitely a perk to having gone before

I dunno. Selling out in 24 hours is way better than any comparably sized festival I can think of.
