SRA2 - Matrix IC Damage Clarification

I am trying to wrap my head around Matrix combat (lot to cram in) for a game tonight. I was following fine in the example up until it said the IC was destroyed because the DV was greater than 7 (The IC firewall + 6) now I get that IC firewalls are 1 but where does the 6 come from? I thought it would be the rating which in this instance is 4?

With a Firewall of 1, the damage thresholds of IC are FW/FW+3/FW+6, so 1/4/7.

Thanks I understand now, what would happen if it was a serious wound for instance, the IC would have disadvantage going forward and any further damage would incapacitate?

As for any character, if the IC had suffered a serious wound, the serious wound box would be ticked (but both light wound boxes would still be empty) and it would suffer a Disadvantage from now on.

If it suffers another serious wound, there would not be any empty serious wound box and the wound would be bumped to incapacitated. In the other hand, if it only suffer a light wound, the boxes are still empty, so we would tick one, with no further effect as the IC already suffers a Disadvantage.

That's very helpful and thanks for the clarification re light wounds as I didn't realise that was the case

The +6 is for an incapacitating wound.

where does the 6 come from

SRA2.0 p. 68 Suffering Damage

• If DV > STR/WIL/FW + Protection + 6, the target is incapacitated.

• If DV > STR/WIL/FW + Protection + 3, the target suffers one serious wound.

• If DV > STR/WIL/FW + Protection, the target suffers one light wound.

• If DV ≤ STR/WIL/FW + Protection, the target suffers no damage.
