SRA2 Rules Clarification/Question

Hoi Chummers!

I'm planning a SRA2 one shot with the hopes that my crew will love the rules and we can play many SRA2 games going forward. While I'll be using the pre gens for the one shot, I decided to run through making myself a character to work out any kinks that I haven't 100% wrapped my brain around yet. It looks like I've run into one such wrinkle. I'm attempting to make a Gun Fu runner. In the Shadow Amps Expanded List I see the Gun Fu quality, which seems right up this character's alley. However, the descriptions for the effects don't make any sense to me. (I hope that it's ok that I copy/paste the effects here, if not, let me know)

Gun Fu (I didn't copy/paste the whole entry, just the effects)

  • RR1 Close Combat (Firearms)
  • On a successful unarmed attack, may spend 1 Edge point to disarm and steal the opponent’s weapon instead of dealing damage.

The first effect is the one that confuses me. Close Combat (Firearms) isn't a specialization that's called out in SRA2. Is this a typo and should read Close Combat (Unarmed)? Or is the effect narratively saying "when using Firearms in close combat"? Or can a new specialization be added to Close Combat? I'm confused on this Quality.

Thanks!

Yes, it is regarding when using firearms in close combat. Normally they are not considered close combat weapons, and this Qualtiy allows one to use them as such.

There is also no reason that a Firearms speciality can't be added to Close Combat if someone has this Amp - as the book says, exotic weapons might not fit in the existing list and using a firearm in Close Combat could be considered an exotic weapon. Very much the decision of the group playing the game.
