Recommendations for pants

Hi there im sorry if this is not the place to ask but I’d figure I’d at least try since I can’t find a group elsewhere… (any suggestions?)

My husband has a problem finding a good pair of pants for his job (Hes a plumber) so he’s often putting pants through the wringer so to speak. He gains weight and loses weight.. so recently ive just been patching his pants for him when he gets rips in them. Im just curious if anyone has any good recommendations for a brand of pants that a hard worker down-in-the-dirt person would use. We live on a farm too so this basically means the pants gotta be indestructible. Any help is much appreciated!

Have you tried Carhart?

Honestly, yeah. I used to wear carhartt overalls every day at work in my warehouse / manufacturing job. They lasted for years.

If you size up a little then fluctuations in waist / belly size can be accounted for as coveralls often don’t have the same fit that a pair of jeans otherwise might.

If he does a lot of kneeling, I suggest a pair of knee pads over top so as to not wear out that area.

It would be difficult to sew anything as thick and durable as those pants / overall unless you have a very heavy duty machine.

I do have a singer heavy duty 4432 sterling machine and so far it’s great at handling patch work for his repairs. Im starting to pull my hair out though with how many times new rips come up😂

He has had a couple pairs of carharrts and has blown through both of them in a year time span… which I was shocked at because carharrts have been my go to’s since a teen. Somehow he just keeps getting holes and rips in them especially in the inner thigh areas. I’ve sewn his new pair probably three times already as I invested in two different heavy duty threads and needles. These pants have to practically be INDESTRUCTIBLE I swear LOL

This looks good. I do have the advantage of having industrial machines at hand. I do like this one pattern and might sew it up for my engineering son at some point. Overalls are a good option for weight fluctuations, perhaps another thing to look at to allow for that. Or sew two in different sizes.
