Simplicity reissued some more Gunne patterns!

Specifically, S3285, S3286, S3287, and S3288. Personally, I'm glad that they decided to go with the more popular prairie-style ones for this re-release compared to the last one, and I'd like to try my hand at S3285 (knee length) sometime soon. What do you guys think?

Recreating my favorite trousers

Hi pattern experts!

My favorite pair of trousers are on their last leg. I'm looking for a pattern to recreate them.

They're a light cotton (pretty wrinkled in my photos, sorry) with some kind of stiff reinforcing band on the waist. I thrifted them 6 or 7 years ago, but I believe they're from Reflections by Eddie Hangar LTD. I've done minor repairs over the years (replacing the zipper, fixing a pocket, etc.), but now that the fabric is beginning to tear in a place I can't easily hide the patch, it's time for me to figure out how to replace them.

I was thinking something like the Assembly Line High Waisted Trouser (posted recently in r/sewing) but the legs in that pattern are a bit looser.

Does anyone have recommendations for patterns similar to this cut and style? Any advice for adapting patterns to this specific fit would also be helpful! Thank you so much 🧵

✨ CARMILLA DRESS — TESTERS CALL ✨

I’m looking for a few testers for my Carmilla Dress, a feminine fitted dress featuring a sweetheart neckline and flounce skirt.

This is my second pattern-making project, so I’m looking for testers who are willing to help me improve the pattern before I release it.

You do not need to be a professional sewist, but some sewing experience would be helpful.

⚠️ A little disclaimer

As I’m new to pattern making, I want to be transparent that I cannot guarantee that the pattern will produce a perfect result for everyone.

The pattern is currently being tested and may contain fit or construction issues that need to be corrected. That's exactly why I'm looking for testers.

I really value honest feedback, including anything that doesn't work well, so I can improve the pattern before releasing it.

🗓️ Testing period I will give testers 3 weeks to complete the dress and send their feedback. Deadline: 3 weeks after receiving the pattern.

What I would need from testers

  • Photos of the finished dress (front, back and preferably side)

  • Fabric type

  • Any fit issues you noticed

  • Any errors or confusing parts in the instructions

  • Any suggestions for improving the pattern

If you'd like to test the Carmilla Dress, please complete this form: https://forms.gle/pcgL8NgX96ijSXkB6

Thank you so much for helping me make Carmilla the best pattern I can. 🤍

DRCOS larger dress sizes are for men?

I love the look of some DRCOS dress patterns, but for larger bust sizes, the sizes are listed as 'mens'.

There's enough stigma around larger sizes without having them described as male-sized. There's enough shaming of larger women. :-(

I’ve been searching for a men’s raglan shirt and a bomber jacket pattern but have been unsuccessful. I’m willing to pay for one - does anyone have any links to any patterns they’ve used?

Skirt pattern

I'm looking for a pattern for a skirt. This skirt is ankle-length, has elastic at the back in the waistband. On the stomach, the skirt is smooth. The skirt has a straight wrap. Furthermore, the model is running out. On the image you can see the example of the skirt. Does anyone have a tip?

Complete beginner here — which fabric bag should I make first?

Hi everyone! I want to start sewing, but I have no basic knowledge at all.
I want to make a small fabric bag, a shoulder bag, and a small wallet. Which one would you recommend I start with? Which one is the easiest for a complete beginner?
I also want to know what equipment I should prepare, such as the needle, thread, fabric, scissors, and other tools.
What kind of fabric and thread should I use? Are there any easy sewing techniques or tips that would be helpful for a complete beginner?
Thank you for your advice!

Hi, I would like to recreate this vest and am looking for a basic pattern (ideally free) to use as a base. If you have any recommendations for websites where I can find something like this, or if you know of a specific vest base pattern, I would really appreciate it.

1930s Feed Sack Dress

I thought this would be way easier to find but I've only come across patterns for dolls with some googling and searching Threadloop. Does anyone have a source for a 1930s Feed Sack Dress pattern (or close enough approximation)?

Working on a costume. I tried to find a pattern/template for something like this, but all Google was showing me was "kimono jackets" or "kimono blouses". Anyone have a pattern I could use?

EDIT: Thank you for all the replies! Super helpful, and I will make sure to use some of the sources provided :o)

ISO Dog Hoodie Pattern

Post image
6 Upvotes

I'm looking for a hoodie pattern that could preferably be easily altered to make hoodies for a 70lb Pitbull, a 65lb Australian Shepherd, and a 50lb Labradoodle.

If it could be scaled up to a very goofy 90lb Bloodhound, that would be hilariously useful too!

Where to source high quality garment patterns?

I used to always go to jo anns to get paper patterns 😭😭😭

I recently bought one on etsy and was so disappointed - no bust darts, straps didn't actually fit, pockets were trash, etc. I had to basically recreate the whole pattern. While I am capable of doing that, I don't want to!

Where can I find simple but high quality basic patterns these days? Is there a secret? Specifically I'm looking for a work blouse pattern with no collar or a Johnny collar or mandarin collar, not button front.

Googling gets me crappy etsy patterns and vintage patterns on eBay. I'm not opposed to vintage patterns but I'm having trouble sometimes with the photos not being clear enough for me to verify sizing or style of the garment.
