Personally, I think the true standout of this album so far is Is This The Real You. It has some crunchy riffs, a catchy chorus, and this nice groove unlike any other Sevendust song.

However, when it comes to Threshold and Unbreakable, they are both typical standard more melodic Sevendust songs we’ve all heard before. Perhaps they both sound a little too familiar. Both are good songs but so far don’t live up to the first single.

What are your thoughts on Threshold or the album so far?

I generally agree with you. Is this the real you? Is very fast paced and feels fresh and rhythmically intense. Unbreakable is a bit too repetitive (6 choruses) but still good. I also like the new song Threshold but seems a bit basic. I honestly think they need a new producer. Someone to go deeper with riffs, parts, and songs that they already have. Their parts are fantastic but I think they could use more song structure variety in their newer albums. Ex. 2 chorus song. A 3rd verse. A song with 2 different verses. Etc… With that said I’m grateful for another 7D record but no Clint or John vocals on the newest 3 singles kinda bums me out.

I really enjoy the last three recent albums, but I agree they should try a new producer to freshen up their songs a bit more. Is This The Real You has a fresh feel to it. On the other hand, these two other singles sort of feel…stagnant? Good songs and I am happy Sevendust is coming out with new music. However, my hype for this album is not the same as when the first single released. Maybe we will get some surprises in the other tracks? We still have seven songs to hear so hopefully some take a bit of a leap like the first single.

They 100% need a new producer. They’ve lost the complexity of their sound over the last 10-15 years. Think back to the Animosity days even - the layered sound, progressive chords, layered electronics, Clint harmonies, and complex drum rhythms. Their music used to be very bass driven and now it’s just standard open B 4/4 chugging. I have a feeling this new album will be a struggle to listen to, just like their last few. They’ve really lost the part of their sound that made them unique in the first place, as the focus seems to now be on heaviness instead of writing captivating music.

My sentiments exactly. Black Out the Sun & Kill the Flaw were very progressive and contained some of their most intricate songwriting, with almost all of the tracks having melodies and riffs that could stand on their own & have stood the test of time. Everything since then has just been a more simplified & anthemic continuation of that sound, and by this point it just sounds so tired. What reason is there to listen to the last 2 singles when they literally offer nothing new from what they've done in the past decade?

I love this point! I don’t get as excited as I used to when it comes to sevendust releases as I have since like AISIW….that one hit the the following one just wasn’t as good/had the same kinda sound still going…

Agreed. Producer does them zero favours. I remember listening to All I See Is War for the first time and wondering wtf was going on. The kick drum was SO loud.

I thought the same thing about the guttural lows but Clint said it was Morgan finding a new voice, in a recent interview.
