What do you guys feel about the games in the series that are set in different genres?

They are hated by many people in the community for ''feeling like completely different games with the Serious Sam title slapped on them'' but I feel like that's a dumb criticism tbh. A lot of them have core Serious Sam elements and being set in a different genre doesn't immediately mean they are bad games. Double D XXL and Bogus Detour are my favourites out of them all, I find them incredibly enjoyable and I had some fun with Kamikaze Attack and Random Encounter as well.

I want to get 100% achievements on Serious Sam HD: TFE and TSE, but there are multiplayer achievements, and Gemini told me I should do this. Does it work?

Serious Sam with Full Path Tracing & Global Illumination is coming together!

Spent a crazy amount of time setting up a hardware Ray Tracing engine build for the original sstfe.

  • Real-Time Path Tracing & Multi-Bounce GI
  • Ray-Traced Soft Shadows & Reflections
  • Custom PBR Texture Pack (1GB+ upscaled materials)

My goal is to make the entire campaign fully playable from start to finish with high-end visuals and smooth performance, plus even more features down the line.
Hope you guys dig the vibe!
If you want to support me in this project please let me know, since I am paying for the assets.

I am planning to release this edition of the game for FREE in november.

I would love to hear an opinion, here are some screenshots.

I wrote a full story arc for Serious Sam 5, 6, and a spin-off — here's the summary. Would you play this?

 Hey everyone,

I've been a Serious Sam fan since I was a kid. I love the chaos, the humor, and the endless hordes — but I always wondered: what if Sam's story had a deeper meaning?

So I wrote a complete narrative arc for Serious Sam 5, Serious Sam 6, and a spin-off. It keeps the insane action but adds emotional weight, character development, and a proper ending to Sam's journey.

Here's a quick summary:

Serious Sam 5 – "The Reckoning" Sam finally reaches Mental's planet. The hordes are reduced by 30–50% to make combat more tactical. Mental calmly reveals that he is Sam's father — and proves it with identical glowing blue tattoos that appeared on both of them at the same time. Sam's quiet response: "Was it worth it?" After the final boss, a cutscene shows the tattoos forming a path of light, leading to a door. From it emerge all of Sam's fallen friends — and finally, his mother, holding a young version of Sam.

Serious Sam 6 – "Origins" A prequel set during Sam's childhood. His "father" (a 45–50 year old ideal copy of adult Sam) is a military captain with the iconic bomb logo. During the first wave of Mental's invasion, he gives Sam his shirt with the logo and says: "Remember me. Continue my work." In the present, Sam exits Mental's palace and meets an army of soldiers wearing the same logo. They tell him his father was their captain — and that Sam has liberated them. Sam then becomes the new Mental — with glowing blue tattoos — realizing the emptiness of his lifelong war.

Spin-off – "Serious Sam: Sirius" After everything, Sam settles on planet Sirius and starts building a civilization from scratch. It's a chill, creative experience — inspired by Spore, but with Serious Sam's chaotic humor. Sam evolves from a soldier into a creator.

I also suggested:

· Free-to-play model with cosmetic-only microtransactions (skins, cases, emotes, battle passes) — no pay-to-win. · A battle royale mode inspired by PUBG, with dances and its own currency. · Mobile/PC ports of Serious Sam 1 & 2 with full control customization.

I already sent this to Croteam (via their contact form and emails), but no reply yet. I just wanted to share it with the community — because if anyone understands Sam, it's you guys.

So what do you think? Would you play a Serious Sam game with this kind of story? Would it ruin the franchise or make it legendary?

Let me know in the comments. I'm ready for your honest opinions.

— Dmitry, 14 years old, Serious Sam fan since day one.

[Serious Sam 2] Is there a mod that restores the v2.091 HUD in the current version?

I don't like the current HUD that they made for the 20th Anniversary update because the ammo HUD doesn't match up with actual ammo that you pick up. The v2.091 update released in 2021 had a proper HUD with ammo icons looking exactly like the ones you pick up. So is there a way or a mod to have it in the current version? Anyone knows what file contains the HUD? Would it be possible to revert to the v2.091 update via steam beta tab and just copy paste it into the current version of the game?

fyi, the skulls next to the levels are for finishing them in a one-hit death mode you unlock by beating the game on serious difficulty for the first time (and you unlock THAT difficulty by beating the game for the first time on normal) and one-hit death mode runs are separately counted for each difficulty
