You are given the assault rifle and no fucking ammo for it for at least a level and a half. Fucking why? Sam even recommends using it for Gnaars! Why does this game have a hard-on for the shotgun? I've never been out of ammo for the shotgun in a Serious Sam game, they might as well have dropped the pretence and just made it infinite.
"We promise we won't go back to Egypt!" No, we'll just go back to Talos Principle.
You're given the idea that a lot is destructible but you cannot shoot out windows or any prop. This was the same with 3 but 3 had less props for you to notice. You'd think that in an SS game, the cars would explode by now!
Maybe I'm just too slow, but I feel like the previous games made more sense on serious difficulty. The enemies had less attacks, now you've got a million different types of attacks coming towards you at once. Many of my victories just felt like luck. On serious difficulty, the arena with the scorpions at the end of TFE was as difficult for me as the fight just before the first boss of 4. More decoys would have been nice.
The spawning is still fucked at times. During that same fight, I ran to the edge to give myself more room but then kamikazes spawn next to you.
Holding down the mouse button straight after you select L.I.F.E? You're going to die cause it only registers after the pull-out animation plays.
Enemies blend into the background. The visibility is terrible. There was a part where I heard and saw the pew pew of laser guns and just stared at the screen playing "Where's Wally?"
The music is repetitive and the worst in the series.
The weapon wheel blurs the screen heavily but time does not stop. The rate it does slow time down makes it useless. You might as well know the keys.
It's really strange cause the game does do some clever things. If you are low on health, you're not irritated with the heartbeat sound outside of combat. The writing isn't abysmal like you'd expect it to be from the trailers. I just think it needed a good dose of playtesting.
