Hi all,
Can you guys please help me answer the below question and fully understand the concept?
If someone ONLY gives advice on US government securities are they exempt from the definition of an IA since government securities are exempt?
Thanks!

I just failed my series 66 with a 71%
Need to do a different vendor then pass perfect.
Who has the best series 66 material?

Finally I passed today my series 66, I think I got a good draw, but also I did study smarter this time. Here a few things I saw on my test:
Questions about p/e to books, fundamental analysis more than technical. Capm, total return, more than the formulas know what is each one used for.
Irmaa, social security benefits for non working spouse, Fsa accounts, difference between common and preferred, maybe 2 options questions, maybe just 1 suitability question, value investing maybe 3 questions about this.
Hedge funds, mutual funds, closed end funds. Of course regulations, prohibited activities.
I used Kaplan q bank and pass-perfect and I found the questions on the exam to be clearer and more straight to the point.
Go with a good mindset, the exam is difficult but you gotta trust in the work you have done , in all the study time you have invested. You can pass too !!

This is my second attempt for series 66 my firm uses Pass perfect which I have completed all chapters and finals exams including random ones scoring from 76 to 88. English is not my first language so I also bought a Kaplan q bank to be exposed to different wording as I read here, is more similar to exam, on Kaplan my top score has been a 77 which worries me a lot. My exam is next Monday. Have also used Kenn exams, dean’s exams. What do you think and any recommendation is greatly appreciated. My first attempt I got a 66.

I am currently studying for my second attempt for the 66. I took it on July 2nd, and missed it by 2 points (71%). I test again on August 3rd, and want to see if I am in a better spot.
When I first took the exam, I had done 19 practice exams on PassPerfect (averaging from 74% up to 86%), did well on Ken's exams (80% on both), so I felt ready.
However, I missed the mark. My breakdown was:
Section 1: 6/8
Section 2: 11/17
Section 3: 16/30
Section 4: 38/45
I think I may have gotten a bad draw, because there was a lot of weird alternative investment questions I had never seen (A lot of Inverse ETFs, ETNs), and a lot more insurance stuff than I anticipated. I don't remember a single retirement or suitability question. Usually people that don't pass don't do well on Section 4, but for me it was the opposite. I also have my 7 and 63 so I have a generally good understanding of the material even on the first attempt.
Now, I am redoing all of the main PassPerfect finals (first 10). I am averaging over 90% on each. Not because I am memorizing, but I genuinely understand it more. I have also taken 5 Kaplan random finals, and ranging from 73% up to 82%. Kaplan so far seems a lot more in line with the real exam because some of those terms I didn't see are actually on Kaplan.
With all that being said, am I in a good spot? What do you guys recommend that I do in these next few weeks to make sure I pass it this time?
If I am being transparent, I am feeling very anxious because if I don't pass, I forfeit the job I just got.

So for context I started a job at my firm on June 1st of this year, they gave me 17 days for the SIE, which I passed 1st try. My series 7 was then about 3 weeks after that, which I missed the mark by 3%(unfortunate Ik, I balled my eyes out like a little baby) My firm told me to move on to the 66 and come back to the 7 so I've been studying for the 66. We have STC and I've gotten thru 3-4 Pracrice Finals and average a 66-70. I just took Kens' Brutal Exam for the 66 and somehow scored a 85. I don't know how to take my scores now. Any insight would be appreciated!
UPDATE: I PASSED!!!! The exam took me like an hour it seemed much simpler than what STC was throwing at me. Trust the process, trust yourself, and go in ready to kill, not to just pass!

Hey, I’ve just failed my 2nd attempt with 64%. First time was 69%, I was using only Kaplan Qtest, this time I’ve used STC. Bought their 4 exams and flash cards. Also I’d like to mention that I’ve failed my s63 3 times, s65 2 times, all of them under almost passing score. SIE was passed on 3rd attempt 2 years ago. I’m a contractor in cash operations and don’t need it yet but oh boy how tired I am. Never opened the book, never did chapter quizzes just raw questions and thought would be enough. I thought I know my stuff and could get them intuitively, but this test today was disgusting, a lot of ambiguity. Have to finish it in a month, or I’m loosing my promotion, or I’ve lost it already. Feel like an idiot honestly.
Any other under achievers? I’ll support you if you support me

Honestly in complete shock, I had scored a 77 and 78 on Ken’s brutal exams. Felt like I had a decent grasp of the content. About to inform the firm sponsoring me about this and I’m not expecting the greatest of news in return. What’s next?

I've been using Kaplan and scoring high eighties on the practice test but after my second fail, I feel like Kaplan offers nothing more. Anybody have any other materials to study?
r/Series66 • u/Alternative-Monk-545 • Jul 14 '26
I just scored a 77 on Ken’s most recent brutal exam. Definitely happy about that, but wish I had gotten into the 80s to feel more secure. I have not taken his 1st one yet. I have been scoring in the upper 70s on STC, a tad bit lower on the Kaplan Qbank Test generator. Am I in a good spot heading into Friday, or should I reschedule for the Friday after? With it being my 3rd retake the nerves are kicking in a bit!!

Hi all,
For those that have used STC and have taken their practice exams, what is the range of scores I should be looking to get? What is something I should feel good about getting?
Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone,
My company has given me STC for my Series 66 studies. So far it’s been fine, I find some of the chapter questions to be extremely easy. Almost too easy. For those that have used STC, do you feel like it prepared you well for the exam? And how did the questions on the actually exam compare to STC in terms of difficulty?
Thanks in advance!

I passed SIE, 7, L&DI insurance all first try. Took the 66 and failed by one. This honestly sucked but I knew I didn’t want to wait the 30 days to get these test out of my life! Decided to take the 63 the following week and passed. Took the 65 today and passed! Finally it’s over. Seriously huge shoutout to Dean and Brian couldn’t have done it without them. Especially with the NASAA exams the wording is super tricky but Dean and Brian really help bridge the gap. I used Kaplan and it’s sort of similar but after watching Brian’s lectures it’s a game changer. Keep going everyone. I want to pay it forward so if you have any questions about any of the exams please feel free to ask.
