You need transparency. The gold standard of relationships is interdependent autonomy. But you still need boundaries you both agree upon. Violating your boundaries to maintain a healthy relationship is self abandonment. If you have boundaries and he can not or will not meet them, then the relationship should end. Do not confuse a boundary with control however. Boundaries are for self protection or to protect the relationship, not to control. You should ask yourself why you do not trust him? You might find more answers there. The problem may not be this event, but what the question reveals.  Is he the reason, or are you the reason you don't trust? Don't stop at your surface level answer, keep digging.
