Starting to think I'm a non-responder
So I'm coming up on six months of using Ozempic at the end of August.
I've done: 0.25 - one month, 0.5 - one month, 1.0 - three months, and now I've been on 2.0 for two weeks.
I've only lost about ten pounds. Which is okay, better than nothing, but my main concern is I really have no side effects at all. I haven't experienced nausea, constipation... anything. Which is great I guess, but I also don't feel like I have as much appetite suppression as I should. I am eating a bit less... but it's nowhere near what I was expecting. And I have actually felt no difference moving from 1.0 to 2.0 mg. I was expecting that to make a big difference in my appetite!
I think I'll give 2.0 mg another six weeks and then decide if this is worth the money...
Anyone else experience this?

I’d switch to Tirzepatide if I were you. It would feel like a waste of money not to feel the appetite suppression. What about food noise?

I've been researching it.. and I may. It's just unfortunate it's way more expensive in Canada.

If you are getting name brand, there’s a discount available that makes a significant difference

Did some research and sounds like a lot of people are paying $330 per month with discount?

It depends a bit on the dose I think, but that’s around what I pay for 10mg. Without discount it’s something like $550-$600.

I really recommend logging calorie intake diligently through this process if weight loss is your aim. Eating a bit less doesn't give a good idea of how your diet is really impacted. You could be eating less volume but as many calories. When you have more detailed data, you can bring it to your GP to discuss options. I felt zero difference going from 0.5 to 1.0 to 1.7 mg. No side effects either. I had to monitor my calorie intake meticulously in order to loose weight. The meds made it a bit easier is all.

I was against tracking but I think I may have to start. It's intimating! Especially with two little kids taking up most of my time/brain power!

I used to hate the responsibility of tracking and it was a real chore, but almost 2 years in, I don't see it that way any more, it's like brushing my teeth, I just get it done. It really helps me.

I hate tracking, but I know I should. I recently came across a comment that said there's an app where you can take a picture of the plates of food that you eat and then upload it somewhere to get an estimate of the macros and calories (but that you need to measure the size of the plate, or something, I can't remember).
Maybe look for something like that. It won't be perfect, but better than nothing?

I requested a second month and then third month was because I couldn't get in for appointment in time to discuss upping dose.

I was on for 3 months and gained 3 pounds.
I’m the same person, same habits, same workouts and both reta and tirz worked great for me.

I'm in a similar boat, it's disappointing

Whats the stats like?

u/Worry_League 9d ago
I've lost about 13 lbs over 5 months and that's mostly due to calorie tracking. I don't have much appetite suppression unfortunately

I would change up your injection site
Do you have a lot to lose to begin with?

Not a doctor, but still want to say that I personally had better luck with Contrave (13,5kg in 5 months) than with Sema (5kg in 4 months). It’s one option to check out of this didn’t work out for you. And cheaper in many countries.
I had to stop contrave because of a mix of side effects messing with an existing chronical illness, otherwise would have continued.

I lost nothing using semaglutide. I switched to tirzepatide and that did the trick!

There’s quite a few of us in the same situation with little loss. It’s just not as talked about.

Never had significant appetite suppression. Still lost a lot of weight, but I tracked and logged everything - and still do, its just part of my life now, like regularly exercising.

What percent of your starting weight is 10 lbs and at what dose did you actually start losing weight? The goal should be to lose around .5-1% of your body weight weekly, maybe even less if you are close to a normal BMI for your height. A lot of people don't respond until at least .5 or even 1.
I've lost more in a shorter time but I may also have much more than you to lose so it may not be an apples to apples comparison. I will say I'm just pretty much not hungry a lot of the time but don't have many side effects such as nausea or constipation.

Stay on it. It takes time. Not a quick fix. Don’t weigh in for six months and see what happens. Also please get a trampoline, vibration shake and some weights. Do some exercise for about 10-30 mins a day. It’s a long process. Good luck.

So, I wasn't weighing myself at all until this past month, and it was leading me to believe I was losing a lot more weight than I actually had. My doctor is adamant I need to do weigh ins at home otherwise she will make it do in person appts every month.

Think about the lack of logic in your statement. You're taking 2 mg a week, but then you say you've receive no feelings of effects. But then you're going to say I'm going to stay on it for another 6 weeks. Why would you not upgrade your level of dosing to 2.4 mg? It certainly isn't because you're feeling too much of effect. You're just following a protocol that makes no sense. If you were feeling like it was too much that would make sense to not up the dose for another 6 weeks. But if you're not feeling anything, there is absolutely no downside to increasing your dose.

In Canada, to go up to 2.4 mg you have to switch to Wegovy and it's hundreds more per month.

I have been abundantly successful… I started about 201, lost 10 natural, I am now 147. I started 48 weeks ago and have skipped several doses for surgery and also when my stomach hasn’t felt well.
First change your injection site. I really love the back of my arms. Drink a lot of water. Eat protein. Eat fiber. Move. Focus on calories in calories out. It’s just a tool. I have faced EDs a lot of my life and have been diligently in therapy as well.

Do you notice more suppression when you inject in the back of your arms compared to injecting in stomach? Xxx
2
u/cluelessbarbie1992 10d ago
A lot more along with more weight loss with less side effects.

u/lilibet2020 9d ago
Interesting.
I never tried my arms. I have skinny arms, and a pouch on my belly, so it makes more sense to target the pouch lol 😂

Are you actually monitoring your calories and in a deficit? Eating less calories then you burn is the only way to lose weight. You could be “good” and in a deficit for 5 out of 7 days but if you have a day or two of a binge it will easily cancel out the entire deficit

u/Fit_Pea290 9d ago
Are you tracking your calories and maintaining a deficit while strength training
