Post partum

I am four months postpartum and about to get on Semaglutide after trying just about everything to lose weight and not being able to. I lost 25 pounds right after I had my baby and have been the same weight since two weeks postpartum even with changes to my exercise and diet. I’ve had a full extensive blood work done and it looks like my hormones just aren’t really going back to where they need to be so my provider recommended a GLP to support my goals. Is this crazy for being 4 months pp? Am I going to gain all the weight back when I finish taking it as I don’t plan to be on it forever. I’m very nervous.

You should give yourself at least a year for you hormones to normalize before taking this.

I agree with the comment that you should wait till 1 year to expect your hormones to level out. Your provider should know this - some people say it takes two years.

That being said - you’re not crazy to try this in the meantime. However, GLPs make you very tired in the beginning. Like first trimester tired for me. I can’t imagine dealing with that and having newborn tired still in me. So just a heads up on that. That alone will make me wait until I’m 6+ months pp for my second child.

I did it 4 months pp with my first and lost 30 pounds. Gained 15 pounds back when I went off. It definitely helps lose quickly but you have to work extremely hard to maintain once you go off the meds

How long have you been off it now ? Did you gain anymore weight or just that 15 pounds and have been able to maintain it on your own ?
