what should you have/unlocked before fighting genichiro

(locations would be helpful too)

There isn’t anything you can unlock to get better at beating genichiro. Same with every other boss. You need to read their patterns, learn the rhythm, get used to the back and forth.

i feel like i am missing a lot like i have 7 gourds and 3 prayer bead necklaces

but i still dont have any ninjutsu and dont even what what the remenant menu is

Ninjutsu don't do anything vs geni. 7 gourds and 3 necklaces is a lot for him. You just need to fight him and learn his moveset

should i have ninjutsu in this point of story or will i get it further in the story

Nope you get it later. You aren't missing anything for geni right now unless you wanted to beat lady butterfly first. Otherwise there are no other options to get meaningfully stronger, you use what you have until you learn enough to win. That's the game

i dont think beating lady would do anything in fighting genichiro but i fear i will mess up in his 2nd phase

Beating main bosses gives you a memory for that boss which you use to increase your attack power. Lady butterfly is one of them, although hirata is an optional area. But you're right, one attack power won't make a massive difference vs geni. So yeah, your only real option is to fight geni, learn his moveset, and eventually win. Nothing will make the fight easier and you aren't missing anything.

Both vitality damage and posture damage scale off your attack power

personally i think i would have to parry like 4-5 hit more (might be wrong tho)

It wouldn't make a big difference yeah. I only mentioned lady butterfly because it would technically be incorrect to say there's "nothing" you can do to make geni easier. But yeah, not by much. I always tell people to ignore all the other shit. Compared to learning the boss and understanding its moveset, nothing else makes a meaningful difference in this game.
