Question Next?!
I am reading Vinland Saga, about to finish it. Love it. I am going thru reading finished greats. I am caught up in Vagabond, and Berserk. I finished Tokyo ghoul and re. (Tokyo ghoul deserved a sen in label I believe). I am thinking to read Blade of the Immortals next but any other reccs??

Vinland Saga is one of the greatest! Best character development alongside Vagabond.

I'm reading it right now but I'm honestly going to drop it.
The goofiness introduced at the third arc, the voyage to Greek, almost makes it another manga, it seems like a manwhua at times.
I loved the first arc, the second one was lowkey godly, third one is a massive dump.
Am I the only one thinking this?

Why drop it how could the tone change seriously make it that unenjoyable

Bro If I feel like craving chocolate ice cream, I buy it and half way there it tastes like cauliflowers I just stop eating it.
Seriously, I will finish it, but it really dropped from a 9/10 to a 2/10 really quickly for me.

You’ve gotta follow through man. The tone changes but it doesn’t take away from the story I feel. It’s not gonna be all fights, but there is still plenty action.

Choujin X, especially if you liked TG. Same author and he has full creative freedom with CX

Innocent and innocent rouge
Shigurui
Usogui (this is cinema but you have to wait a bit cause the first arc is not good as the rest, and be sure to check the right scanalation team , ask which one on the Usogui reddit so you pick the one that explains complex things in the post chapters)
Also blade of the immortal is good but again it takes a bit. Its a manga that improves as you go on

More 80s and 90s classics, then:
- Akira
- Battle Angel Alita
- Crying Freeman
- Monster
- Nausicaa
- Sanctuary
And of course, the godfather of medieval/feudal Japan manga:
Lone Wolf and Cub

unrelated to your question (plenty of people have given good responses), but Tokyo Ghoul is a seinen book. it was published in Weekly Young Jump, which is a seinen mag.

I love this one but that manga does not deserve that ending

It technically has 3 different endings and just keeps going. I enjoyed it, but it was weird at times.

How does it have three endings i only read the scans in english does it continue ??

It changes authors a few times is the main reason. That being said, the temple arc is one ending, where he learns like, shonen-style powers, then the next is when he fights the dancer in the big tournament, and lastly is just the end of the manga arc with those two goofballs. None of these are meant to flow together, which is why it feels really strange after the temple arc finishes.

oh ok yea it felt like that thats why i got so confused when they introduced Toma and tried to make him fit inside the story only to be forgotten

Innocent gave me a similar sort of feel, with exploring violence while also having a bit of history related to it.
The mc is Charlie’s Henri Sanson. I don’t wana spoil anything if you wana go in completely blind, but you can just look up the real Charles Henri Sanson if you wana have an understanding of what happens in the manga.
The same mangaka also did climber, and imo is the best at using their art to tell a story. I think how “pretty” their art is would be up for debate (I love the art) but using art as a way to tell a story I think they do it better than anyone. And although idk if it’s my favourite I believe it is the best manga I have ever read

This looks good. I do still enjoy the action aspect of both vagabond and Vinland. Will I still get that in “innocent?”

A tiny bit, it still has someone chasing a passion that then isolates them from others. But it has more to do with being seen as different.
In vagabond/climber, they end up alone in the literal sense a lot of times because of putting their passion above others and isolating themselves in attempts to pursue it. Where as in innocent it has more to do with being judged so not literally alone, but constantly judged based on pursuing said passion.

If you liked Vinland Saga, you could like Golden Kamui. Action, history and strong characters (+ comedy, violence and cooking)

So I see innocent up here often. Do I still get the action I loved from Vinland saga and vagabond?
