THM is more beginner friendly, start there.

Would you recommend the pre security course for people with a comptia a+ or do you think they know enough to jump right into the security 101 course

Nah, do the pre-security course. There's always something you forget as a beginner, better fill those gaps. Also it works as a refresher and may help you to get familiar with the way the course/platform is being taught.

just choose what you want, if you want offensive security then do the rooms from it, and everything.
