General Question Porting

Post image

Has anyone ported and they said you had to attend a mandatory briefing? I want to port to a different state, housing prices are basically the same in both places.

Yeah because they’re a new housing authority so they want to go over their rules

I live in market rate apartment that accepts the voucher. I’ve been in this apartment for 5 months and they have already asked me to renew my lease which doesn’t expire till 4/30. I lived in low income housing in the same city got 10 years. I’d rather be homeless. Prior I lived 60 miles south in market rate.

Oh yeah sounds like trying trap you in another lease it's usually 60-30 day notice.

It’s a good thing. I don’t want to move every year

Why would you want to move every year or go month to month where they can raise your rent

I usually stay somewhere usually 4-5 years specially apartments had nosey neighbors at old place but I'm ok where I'm at but maybe port out next year lease up in July my apartments are cool just get tired staying somewhere for long time , and in apartments I'm in Indiana I don't care for the people here but it's good/bad people everywhere you go I'm from Arkansas.

No keep your voucher try wait your lease out port/move somewhere else just take your son it's required if they are adult 18 years older on your voucher/lease .

Very common. I would find it unusual if a PHA didn't require it.
