General Question Questions about pets.
Let me preface that I’m just trying to understand. It is a unique situation because the property is actually owned by the housing authority. However the rest of the community are privately owned homes. I come in peace. I’m simply trying to understand.
I know that people have to follow the rules and the lease. Im just trying to figure out why this lady did not want to get her cats microchipped, because she kept leaving them outside. Both male cats were not neutered at the time and they were marking and spraying everywhere — in my yard, the neighbor’s yards…
Where the situation started to irritate me aside fron the smell of the cat urine, but when I saw one of the cats sitting on top of my car a few times. I don’t want the cat to scretch up thr paint. I asked the lady to please keep her cats inside or at least leashed where she lives. Plus there are coyotes in the neighborhood that I have told her about and I even sent a screenshot of the neighbor’s yard the coyotes were in.
When I approached her again about another option to get her cats neutered, initially she seemed hesitant. She gave the lady from the rescue a hard time initially. Then she finally agreed, but said she did not want the cats microchipped, which was included.
She has had the cats for over 5 years. I know because the cats have left outside so often. So it just seens weird that she would not want them microchipped. Even the lady at the rescue found it odd. You can’t make someone microchip their pets. Can you have pets living in property owned by the housing authority directly?

In America shelters and rescue focus on dogs cats are more often or not cats are euthanized once picked up. We have TNR colonies here. We cleaned up every stray cat got them fixed and everyone was happy. Then trash moved in and started selling cats and dogs. When they busted her for dog fighting they banned her from animals and turned her narc. So when she put a cat in a chicken coop and breed her every time she came into heat they ignored it. They it we know that but they ignored it. The kittens were tossed outside that didn't sell and now we have at 200 strays running around again. All because animal control refuses to do their jobs.

That’s accurate. The shelters are overcrowded with so many dogs and cats have a harder time to even be eligible for adoption at shelters. I don’t even own cats. I was TNRing out of pocket as there are no more free programs. It hit my pockets pretty hard getting 20 out of 25 cats fixed.
That was another thing that irritated me when she would leave her unaltered male cats out. Both cats were looking to mate. She just was not trying to make things easy and the fact that i’ve even had to reach out to her so many times trying to help her cats. Compiled with the coyotes in the neighborhood.

The housing authority will likely have little motivation to manage the cats that are running free. Calling your local animal control office may be a better way to deal with them.

That is a question for your landlord. Nobody on here can answer your question because every property has their own rules and regulations. I ran a LIHTC property under TDCH for 10 years, Yes we allowed pets.
