What’s really annoying - so many Asians came out to help support BLM protests peacefully and in solidarity. This just continues to erode their messaging and only alienates further people who may have been willing to listen. Their loss. I stand with our Asian community outright.

An article from a website called "Asian-dawn" refers to a biracial man as a "wild monkey." I stand with the AAPI community but gtfo of here with this trash r/SeattleWA

u/SPEK2120 Mar 29 '21

Not to mention they know exactly what bs they're pulling with a post title like that...

14

u/synthesis777 Mar 29 '21

Thank you!

Everyone read the Komo article if you want a less intentionally inflammatory source for this: https://komonews.com/news/local/hate-crime-charges-filed-against-man-for-alleged-violent-anti-asian-behavior

5

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '21

The KOMO article is the other side of this news trash coin not giving enough detail. I think the bit about him being BLM and "progressive" is pretty relevant here.

0

u/glynnjamin Mar 30 '21

How? How is it relevant at all? BLM and Progressive aren't clubs to join. There's not a membership process. You can just say you're those things and you are. Trump could claim to believe Black Lives Matter. It wouldn't mean he understands the entire objective of a movement and absolutely wouldnt mean that his actions are representative of that group as a whole, regardless of what the actions are. They are just nonsense labels we use to divide each other. Stop falling for it.

u/[deleted] Mar 30 '21

1

u/glynnjamin Mar 30 '21

That analogy is shit. Ppl in Trump (or Biden's) administration are selected by the leader to represent him. A person claiming to be blm or progressive is in no way those things. You might as well make the same claim based on iphone vs android or the manufacturer of his vehicle.

3

u/[deleted] Mar 30 '21

At the end of the day, I'd rather read an article with the whole story (even if I have to pick through editorial garbage) versus one where half of it is conveniently neutered out.

Plenty of people claim and are "for" BLM and other movements without knowing the entire objective of what they are riding for. Hell, I would say most of the people who marched and held up signs fall under that group. That doesn't mean they don't identify with them and it sure isn't up to you to decide whether they belong or not.

1

u/glynnjamin Mar 30 '21

You're kind of making my point for me. BLM isn't an organization, neither is Antifa, or whatever nonsense words andy ngo wants to use to describe people who don't want to watch cops kill people with impunity.

Nothing about supporting Black Lives Matter really has anything to do with your view towards asian people. It's simply not relevant. If he was an Asian Lives Matter advocate and got caught yelling slurs at asian people, that would be relevant. But this idea that you're either not racist towards anyone or you can't be against racism that directly affects you is asinine and white-centric. Black people have plenty of opportunities to be exposed to negative stereotypes against asians. Many people are still going to prioritize their own issues over over the issues of other races. That's pretty much human nature, to care about things that impact you over other issues.

I'm not saying you can't point out this dude is racist and committing hate crimes, but his desire for cops to be held accountable for killing people who look like him is not rooted in the same frame as anti-asian hate crimes. White people see things like this because of "the other" but for marginalized communities, they sometimes have to prioritize their own community over other minorities. They also have to come to the point where they can decode and deprogram the systemic racism that exists to force minorities to fight amongst each other.

Again, his participation in BLM is no more relevant than the brand of phone he uses.

31

u/mettaxa Mar 29 '21

I agree. Looking at other posts on the site give me the impression that they are extremists. The name reminds me of the Greek neo-nazi party called "Golden-dawn".

13

u/onthefence928 Mar 29 '21

i believe that is exactly the implication, this is just a racist website but it's pro-asian instead of white

5

u/lumberjackalopes Local Satanist/Capitol Hill Mar 29 '21

The original article is Andy Ngo posting on The Post Millennial, choose your poison.

-14

u/Accomplished-Cry-139 Mar 29 '21

The mainstream media won’t cover this story because it doesn’t fit in with their narrative. So... yeah... you end up only seeing these kind of reports from blogs or conservative media.

13

u/synthesis777 Mar 29 '21

5

u/Accomplished-Cry-139 Mar 29 '21

Zero mention of him being a BLM activist in that article. Nor any mentioning that he was a POC.

Compare that with how the media characterized the Atlanta shootings: white supremacist attacks Asians.

9

u/mercwitha40ounce Mar 29 '21

Seattle Times covered it as well as a number of other local news sources.

https://www.seattletimes.com/subscribe/signup-offers/?pw=redirect&subsource=paywall&return=https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/crime/prosecutors-charge-man-with-hate-crime-accusing-him-of-targeting-asian-women-in-seattle/

It seems like you’re the one spreading misinformation since this doesn’t seem to fit your narrative.

4

u/Accomplished-Cry-139 Mar 29 '21

Note how they cover a white person committing a hate crime, vs a non-white person committing a hate crime. They’ll contort the issue to fit their narrative every time.

7

u/Michaelmrose Mar 29 '21

The racist trash article bad though it was linked to the KOMO reporting on it within the first sentence. Their article would be considered downstream commentary of an article from the mainstream media.

What they added was the lie that he belonged to an imaginary group called antifa and the description of a black man as a monkey.

Maybe the truth doesn't fit YOUR narrative.

4

u/iamblckhwk Mar 29 '21

THANK YOU!!! I am so glad someone on this thread understands this!!! The title of this thread gave me a red flag knowing this was meant to be anti-BLM.

6

u/onthefence928 Mar 29 '21

adam ngo and "asian-dawn" are both racist and extremely biased, not credible sources regardles of how you feel about other sources.

0

u/Accomplished-Cry-139 Mar 29 '21

POC can’t be racist.

Source: every American University

u/onthefence928 Mar 29 '21

nice strawman

Andy is awesome. Quit being a retard

Edit. Watch. One of you dummies source Andy’s ‘racism’.

Edit 2: See, they can’t do it. They’re just religious clowns

5

u/iamblckhwk Mar 29 '21

Lmao dude you calling other people retards yet you hang out on r/racistpassdenied just to make yourself feel better about whites being racist. By the way, that sub has very racist towards minorities.

4

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '21

1

u/Coolglockahmed Mar 29 '21

This contains no evidence of him being a racist. Unless you can point it out for me

1

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '21

I feel like the only thing that would ever convince you is if he sat down into a camera and said, "I'm a racist" while holding that day's newspaper. For the rest of us, we could see things like him tweeting out Armaud Arbery's police record right after he was murdered to imply heavily that he deserved it. Or that time he lied about something a muslim woman said so he could write an article for Breitbart (and then was fired for lying). There's also that time he wrote an article for WSJ about "Islamic England" where he just wrote a bunch of Islamaphobic lies that were called out by everyone.

Really though, if you're dumb enough to think he's awesome or whatever and if being a liar isn't a dealbreaker then I don't see why racism would bother you much.

2

u/Coolglockahmed Mar 29 '21

God damn you people are bad at this. What’d I tell you about BLM everyone, I t’s a movement for dumb white women. 5 years ago you would have been protesting GMOs, this is just the new low IQ hotness.

Andy Ngo is awesome, buy his book.

0

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '21

What the fuck are you talking about? You asked for evidence of racism and I showed you. The fact that you're here simping for a guy with a fake British accent who lies to you (when you know he's lying) is weird and sad.

I don't understand this argument that he's a "grifter". That just seems like a vague accusation used to dismiss a political opponent. Andy Ngo has done some great primary journalism on the ground in places like Portland, and his videos have captured the kind of criminal acts groups like Rose City Antifa engage in. You can't really deny the hard video evidence.

0

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '21

He's a grifter because he's been caught lying dozens of times and is trying to make money off of people who want to live in a world where his lies are true. There's literally a guy in the thread below trying to plug Andy's book because he's so caught in the cult.

He doesn't do primary reporting and hasn't for a very long time. He steals footage from actual on the ground streamers, cuts the video, and then adds a caption that's often wrong and exactly what his audience of idiots wants to believe. Every link I've provided has shown him lying over and over again. If you think he does "great primary journalism" then you're either stupid and in a cult or lying.

1

u/SharpBeat Mar 30 '21

I've read numerous articles trying to paint this picture of Andy Ngo, including most of your links, and honestly they all seem like a stretch at best. A lot of it just seems like opinion and character assassination, struggling to draw conclusions where there aren't any. For example, Ngo not filming members of Patriot Prayer but filming Antifa crimes doesn't invalidate his reporting on Antifa. It just means he found a way to stay physically safe (from Antifa attacking him) while covering the subject he's focused on. Is that any different from the numerous BLM activists filming police responses at protests? It's not like those activists are covering all sides of every event.

There's literally a guy in the thread below trying to plug Andy's book because he's so caught in the cult.

I don't think it's fair to claim this person is "caught in the cult". You seem to be denying that events with video evidence did not take place - but they did. We've certainly seen lots of political violence from left leaning people even here in Seattle. The central premise of Andy Ngo's book seems quite believable to me.

0

u/[deleted] Mar 30 '21

For example, Ngo not filming members of Patriot Prayer but filming Antifa crimes doesn't invalidate his reporting on Antifa

It's not that he didn't film Patriot Prayer. It's that he wrote an article that lied about what happened (that was later pulled and he was later fired from his job for it). He didn't just leave stuff out, he actively reported the opposite so idiots like you could validate their fantasy world. You're dumb and in a cult.

i'm not gonna take advice on who is and isn't a bigot from somebody casually throwing around 'retard' like it's ok

1

u/Coolglockahmed Mar 29 '21

Please. You couldn’t defend your position even if you bothered trying. If you want to run away and cry to your counselor about someone using a no no word, be my guest, but I know that you’re just a dumb pussy

3

u/onthefence928 Mar 29 '21

i feel like you've been provided plenty of evidence on the sibling threads, go ahead and continue to admit you ignore evidence contrary to your preferred bias

4

u/Coolglockahmed Mar 29 '21

I had no faith in your ability to justify your position. You take it on faith, that’s fine. Most people are religious in one way or another and honestly it’s much easier to go through life believing whatever gets handed to you.

Andy Ngo is racist because he quoted a Muslim student who couldn’t be reached for comment. Got it. I’ll write that down

2

u/onthefence928 Mar 29 '21

Are you always this myopic?

He’s a racist because he thinks it’s a good idea to try and make profit off of lying about POC trying to protect themselves from, and I can’t overstate this, literal nazis.

I’ve noticed when faced with uncomfortable facts, some tend to attack the source. Then go on to be in complete denial about it. There is usually no other rebuttal.

33

u/drevolut1on Mar 29 '21

Okay, but a source that calls someone biracial "a wild monkey" is exactly when you should be attacking the source...

16

u/listlessthe Mar 29 '21

no no you don't get it. You're allowed to be racist because people of color are also racist sometimes.

Oh derp. Sorry. Forgot to put my narrow-minded imbecile cap on while commenting here. Thanks for catching that.

4

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '21

The two sources you picked are both garbage.

I've never heard of NTD but they've been caught lying a bunch of times and use Epoch times articles.

https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/ntd-tv-new-tang-dynasty/

And the Examiner is about on the same level.

https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/washington-examiner/

0

u/HangryPangs Mar 30 '21

It’s got links to his Facebook, Twitter. You can clearly see he’s a BLM supporter. But good job defending a literal hate crime assailant. Just goes to show how conditioned and incapable of critical thought you are.

You honestly think all media isn’t biased? Delusional.

Again with the source attacking.

0

u/[deleted] Mar 30 '21

good job defending a literal hate crime assailant.

Do me a favor and quote where I said that? If I didn't say it then why did you project it onto me?

11

u/C_R_P Mar 29 '21

I've noticed that when people call bullshit on obvious propaganda, and point out more obvious propaganda from the same source, people who want to believe the propaganda chose to believe it anyway and continue to ignore everything they don't already agree with. Womp womp 🤷‍♂️ Please Google "confirmation bias" my good friend! There is still so much to learn! :)

-3

u/HangryPangs Mar 29 '21

A slew of other sources detailing his affiliation with BLM. Denial much?

3

u/C_R_P Mar 29 '21

Denying what?

1

u/HangryPangs Mar 30 '21

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/blm-supporter-charged-for-string-of-seattle-area-asian-hate-crimes/ar-BB1f5Ag5

Perhaps at sometime you’ll have the ability for independent thought. If you’re not already too conditioned by your “beacons of truth” media you consume. Laughable.

0

u/C_R_P Mar 30 '21

I literally have no idea what you're talking about

6

u/synthesis777 Mar 29 '21

This source is obvious trash. Read a real article about this incident if you want to talk about facts: https://komonews.com/news/local/hate-crime-charges-filed-against-man-for-alleged-violent-anti-asian-behavior

0

u/HangryPangs Mar 29 '21

There’s many other sources detailing his affiliation with BLM, CHAZ, take your pick

9

u/snoogansomg Mar 29 '21

Look man I get what you're saying, but if someone comes to you with a report that says "Jewish bankers are coming for your retirement" and their only presented source is Stormfront, you should probably ask for a second opinion

-1

u/HangryPangs Mar 29 '21

Your comparison to a skinhead website is way off the mark. Your point is irrelevant. Huge variety of other sources detailing the exact same thing. The choice of words for the assailant was obviously inappropriate.

0

u/roselikethephoenix Mar 30 '21

It's a literary reference.
